this isn't a question for me, i have a buddy who has an atuo b18b in his 97 teggy coupe. im tryin to get him to go b18c1 or b16 head on the block and buy a gsr tranny. ne ways the point is, 1.) the dude has NO knowledge of honda motors and 2.) doesn't even no what he wants to put in h22/gsr/ls-vtec but for some strange reason he thinks he can put a b16 head on an h22. now the first question is will it even bolt up and if it can, wouldn't you have to use the h22 cams due to a different stroke and there for timing issue?? and if so is the any benefits to doing so i personally don't believe it but i just have to know for sure. thanx sorry for the long post

Personally,
hit your friend for me.

Not possible. Tell him to take the money he'd like to invest in mating an h22 block with a b16 head and go buy a lambo or something.

i knew it, im no honda god, but i was pretty sure it wouldn't even if the bolts matched up im 100% sure the cams are different, i knew it was a stupid question but i just had to prove him wrong, hes one of those people that thinks hes right ALWAYS....thank you guys

It'l work. Just get a bunch of jb weld and slap the head on.
I've been doing it wrong..... all this time I've been using duct tape, and zip ties.

liquid nails works great too if you're on a budget

I think APC actually makes a B16 head/H22 block conversion package, complete with a paper head gasket, puke-green colored "tuner" head studs, and a"garden hose spec" oil line re-routing kit.

You guys probably can't afford it though...this kit costs baller money...

hah hah hah that was hilarious.....i thought brutal was being serious until i saw "paper head gasket" im laughing my ass off.

umm...what's so funny. most cars have a factory "paper" headgasket. including hondas and nissans.
H&B 2 difrent letters H22&B16 two difrent moters
maybe they have an H2B conversion.

now days you can put almost any tranny on any motor,,and you can also change the heads from a h and f they will interchange

when i saw the word "paper" my first thought was paper as in a piece of stationary. ne ways i think i said this but he has an auto b18b. would it be cheaper to buy a complete gsr swap, or to buy a b16 head and a manual tranny and clutch/clutch assembly??

To find the answer for that you'll just have to do some research. You might be able to find all that stuff separately for cheaper than a full swap, or you might not. Check out Craigslist; I see a lot of Honda blocks, heads, and transmissions for sale on there.

Also keep in mind that you're going to need an ECU if you're not buying a complete swap package. Actually, you're going to need a lot of things...pedals, shifter assembly and shift knob, shift linkage, master and slave cylinders and all the transmissions lines, a manual tranny gauge cluster, etc.

It might actually be better to just get the auto-to-manual swap taken care of first, and then worry about swapping the head or swapping the motor.

i knew about the clutch pedal and what not, thats what i meant in "clutch assembly". see the problem is, my friend doesn't know shit and im guessing he wants me to do all the work. might as well do it b4 i ever do mine that way if i screw up ill be smarter about it on my car. so i guess ill do the tranny swap first, ive done one of those before so its all good, i know i need different axles for the manual, but dould i also need different mounts??
