Does anyone know the best way for me to reconstruct the dash? I wanted to make it kind of a different shape and wanted the center console and dash to be smooth and not have that reptile feel and shit. Any ideas? I'm kinda new, actually, very new at working on Hondas and I don't have much experience at all. Don't laugh though!!! Cuz, I wanna learn. But anyway, I'd really appreciate the advice, and if anyone else has tips on any other hard spots with the interior, feel free to lay it on me!

It sounds like you may want to fool around with fiberglass. You could make the dash look anyway you want. I say do some research, maybe play with some fiberglass outside of the car, then when you feel comfortable working with it, start on the car.

Thanks! ahah I forgot to mention that I was considering that... I'm building a spoiler out of fiberglass (I don't know how it'll turn out, but I'm just trying to learn about it). I know some stuff about it. But what if fiberglass doesn't work for some reason, would I be able to just sand down the original dash to make it smooth?

lol the dash is vinyl...if you dont mind me asking..why do you want to reconfigure the dash???

I want it to be nice and smooth and rounded, like modern cars' dashes. The CRX dash, at least in the 89 DX, is really kind of squarish. I don't like it. I HATE the iguana skin feel too.

Oh, hey thanks for the sites btw, and the climate control!!! $30 rocks for that shit!!! I'll have pics on my myspace btw, of my interior... as soon as I can get my hands on a camera lol. Thanks, tunercrazed!!!
Come down to Idaho so we can race lol.

Do you know why the CR-X's dash is squarish and old-looking?

Because the CR-X is old.

If you want a more modern-looking car you should probably buy one. I mean you can mess with fiberglass or whatever you want, but unless you've got some mad skills it's probably not going to turn out very well.

What about the outside of the car? It's squarish and old-looking as well. Are you going to update that too?

I say let CR-Xs be CR-Xs...

A friend of mine was selling a EF with fiberglass dash. Pretty much what you're looking for.

Also, the 90-91 gauge cluster cover looks nice. Makes the dash more rounder/

"more rounder" ......lol
@ brutal : yea but isn't that why they are called tuners? so you can construct and build them the way you want them? If your ever down this way aleaf I'll help you with the glass.

Well, "Tuners" tune engines, suspension, etc. "Builders" build stuff or put stuff together. Both sometime have to fabricate though. :)

I know the CRX is old (we're the same age) and I love the way the outside looks, I don't want to change that much, even with a body kit. I do have a little skill in fiberglass and someone is helping me who's been working on cars since he was like 8 and he's like 40 now. He's gone through his first car, a 67 firebird an redone or repaired almost everything. He still has it to this day. Also, he knows A LOT about fiberglass, he also used to be a racecar driver, so he had to rebuild fenders and other parts on his racecar out of straight fiberglass.
To Brutal, thanks for the encouragement and cheer up a little lol, I'll show you pics of it when it's done.

Well if you've got some experience and an experienced helper then it might not turn out too bad. My advice would be to not try and change it to much though. If you make everything all rounded and modern looking I think it's gonna look funny. Good luck, and be sure to post up pics when you're done...

Thanks. Yeah, all I want to change is the cluster cover. Like K2eKvin said, kind of like the 90-91 cluster cover. But I want experience in making fiberglass stuff and using it, so I'm gonna do it instead of buying one. Then I want to make the little divot in the dash, in the middle, a little smoother. That's all.
