over the past couple months ive been thinking about buying a 4dr OEM 4dr turbo car.

the reasoning?

1. i just had a baby and i cant spend money on my car like i would like to.
2. the ek needs new window regulator, alarm, tint, and maybe a fresh paint job.
3. i would like to have a bigger car for ease of getting the baby in and out and i want more room.
4. if i sell the ek i could have 5-6k+ 1.3k taxes + the beater altima as a trade in + i have rims/tires i could sell.
5. i could use more luxury

why i have doubts?
1. the wife doesnt want me to sell the hatch.
2. i cant really afford more than a $300 payment + ins
3. i love my hatch so i cant make a good decision about what car to get.
4. just bought a freshly rebuilt gsr tranny with rebuilt OEM lsd and new CC clutch..
5. i still want to autoX whatever car i get

i am currently thinking about:
2003+ protege speed
2005+ wrx
2005+ srt4

or anything around 22k+/- that meets my needs

what should i do?
should i save my $?
what kind of cars am i missing?

any comments are welcome...

HELP!!!! :D

sell the Ek and trade it for a SRT4. looks agressive, sexy, masculin and still pretty quick.

or you can get the AWD WRX. they are nice too. Whatever you get it will much better than the ek. faster, newer,a/c is better, more comfy interior. Just sell the damn thing as a whole. Then sell the tranny seperate. Or you can just trade both cars and cash on top for anice down payment on whatever you want.

i dont think i can sell the ek without a tranny.

do you really think the srt4 is a reliable car? should i buy from a dealer and buy an extended warranty?

can you trade in more than 1 car? and i dont think that theyll give me the right ammount of money for the ek

Not ONE of these decisions makes good financial sense.

Nothing in the world of cars is good sense. It's only about what you want.

Were I in your area, I would take it up with a different path, like Dune Buggies or shifter carts or something. Nothing is cheaper, and has more bang per buck than a Motorcycle :). And you're in FLA and can ride all year long.

can he strap a carseat to the back of a bike??.. come on, think.. i took you for smarter than that

No, but he has another SUV to carry people.

I wouldn't get an SRT-4 I just hate them don't even know why. I'd go with the WRX or an EVO first if you could find one for ~$22,000. Or just get a 4-door Civic like a 5th gen and turbo charge that

Check under the couch, then look in your coat pockets. If you don't see it there, look at the bottom of his name on the left.

i own a 2000 montero sport but that is my wifes car. i drive the ek when it was functional.

i can get a wrx for around 14-17k but its -04 with 50k+ miles on them. i would like something that i could buy a warranty for. like through my bank or something

:bo: That was nice.

If you want him to look for a car in the evo class you might as well want to........:buyanm:
seriously though, do you car about the year of the car? If you want another honda you might want to go with something newer. forget about building and swapping motors for now. If its a honda get an SI or Accord. quick enough and minty fresh.

or an older car then get a Volvo. they are reliable. VW is nice too. WRX's are more for your liking though if you want to Xautocross. But if your looking out for the well being of your wife and kid.....which you should. get them in a vehicle for them ,not you. Worry about your wants later.

I was saying trade the cars in to save you the hassle of waiting and the loballers. Plus they dont care if it grinds in gears if they dont know about it. just get it as stock as you can. If they wont take 2 cars as a down payment then sell the altima on the street. You have more of a variety of people looking at it then just 'skreet tunas' looking for a honda.

i personally want an Si when i get some money.

My philosophy, that works so far, is that the one in the house that isn't into cars should have the driving appliance. The Driving Appliance gets people from place to place.

The guy that's interested in engines, cars, whatever, should have something fun.

Women get all bent out of shape by this because their men wind up "In sports cars" and they get the shaft. But thats what it comes down to.

i was thinking about an audi but i dont know which one is the best bang for the buck.

if its a quattro then its awd?

+1

I don't know. Don't take this offensively.

I disagree with priorities myself. I'd ditch the ek, get something remotely satisfying for now then when more financially "stable" I'd look into another project car. But personally I wouldn't even go for a real fast car. I'd go for all out safety and roominess for the child. The volvo s60r is what I'd be looking at or later models audi's.

the volvos look real nice. the s60r is a real nice car. 300hp 258tq and all the luxury items. the only thing i dont like is the instrument panel. they look too plastic
