HS LEGEND
ok soo i got my minime swap done like 2 weeks ago and it drove fine for a week..one night i went out to move the car.it started and idled fine for like 5 minutes.then all of a sudden died outta nowhere..so i got to start it back up and it idled really shitty, like around 300..then stalled...i went to start it and it wouldnt start..the motor cranks but wont kick over..im getting fuel, and im getting spark, now i have no compression on cyl. 3..i think its a bent valve..but would this cause the car to not start?!?!
the car is a 91 si and the motor is a d16a6 block with d16z6 head..
please help the car is for sale and i have an offer if the car is fixed...

Mine did the same thing with the old d15b7..bent valve, wouldn't start, lost compression in a cylinder. Mine wouldn't start then about a day later it started. I had to pump the shit out of the gas to get it going tho and after I got it to start it wouldn't last more than half a block before it died and it sounded like a lawnmower.

I don't know what happened in that day that I waited to start it but after one day it started...barely.

ok..so whatd you do after that?!?!i was going to replace the valves but i have a line on a z6 head for $75..

LOL. After that I went to pepboys and got ripped off so I bought myself a complete JDM D15B Vtec motor/trans/ecu the link to my build in progress is in my sig. I'm almost done just gotta finish up the wiring and some of the suspension.

EDIT: Turned out that it was a bent valve but that I also had rolling lifters and possibly the timing was off. Not to mention a worn crankshaft seal and bad head gasket. So after I got ripped by pepboys I put in over 5 months of savings and research into my swap and it's paying off I'm nearly finished. And by the way after I hammered like crazy at the spring pin that connects the shift linkage and couldn't get it, my shop teacher got it and told me and a couple of friends to tell our parents to next time buy us some underwear with laces on it LMAO.

It sounds like your ignition timing is off (get a manual for timing adjustment, you'll need a stroboscopic light and instructions on how to use it if you haven't before), but I ran into the same problem when my battery was dying. Test your battery to make sure it's running 14.4 (or close to it), and if you have a spare battery try that out.

Also make sure that all your spark plugs are in correctly and while you're at it, check your injectors to make sure they're clean (if the tips are melted, replace them).

One more thing to try:
pull your passenger's floor carpet and the kick plate behind it, look in the little window you should have on your ecu. If it's blinking, write down the code it puts out (it'll be like morse code, long/short blinks). Then either check your manual or come back with the blinks and we'll diagnose from there.

its not throwing any codes, the battery is good,im just gonna swap my b18 into the car..i already think i know whats wrong with the d16

Yea take the head off and check the valves could be a bent valve and it coulda jumped the timing.

the old head was the one with no compression in one hole..i did pull it and put a new head on it,the head with no compression needs to be milled,,there is a little ridge on the bottom of cyl 3 around the valves..i figured out the problem with the new head..there was a vaccum leak and the dizzy went bad...but i will take pix of the swap
