i said the same thing about the texas one.

i can understand the 1st -10th. but the 40th? lol

i did just yesterday as a matter of fact

i see a story about school closings cause its too cold for kids to walk to school or wait for the bus. which is also BS IMO. i mean shit, grow a pair already. my schools NEVER got closed for it being too cold, we just had to suck it up when waiting for the bus. (and yes we had to wait in subzero temps before.)

see scrapinsi's sig for my thoughts on the pussification of america

"back when i was a boy, we had to walk up hill both ways in the snow"

remember that story? our parents thought we were pussies, too.

I was just doing wire runs in a leasing office at an apartment complex this morning. This little twig girl came in, come to find out she has 5 kids. All but two of them stayed home from school today because it was 'too cold out'. What the fuck is this shit? Go to school. Its warm there.

Now granted, I never stood there waiting for a bus, but my scrawny ass walked to school every day since I was in kindergarten up until I got a car my senior year in HS. Never once did I take a day off because it was 3 degrees outside.

I agree 100% with you, Ian.

When I was a kid we would get 3' of snow in Chicago and still have school, like nothing ever happened.

Here is VA, everyone freaks out and becomes non-driving ass clowns when theres barely an inch sticking on the ground. It's fuckin ridiculous.

That was only a couple miles from my work actually. They think the teenager was driving through the whiteout, stopped on the throughway and everyone piled into the car killing the teenager. It was a bad whiteout, you couldn't see past your hood.

This is a rare incident, but it has happened in other areas with fog as well.

Our school was closed just two weeks ago for cold. I applaud the district for taking the students safety into account. We had wind chills of 45+ below zero and at that temp frostbite can set in within minutes. Every now and then I don't care if my district errors on the side of safety. And before anyone claims that is because I get a day off - as a teacher you never truley get a day off of school when it is cancelled. I spent that day trying to figure out how to get my classes back on track for the rest of the year.
