I've been thinking about this for a while....

I drive a 1.4iS Civic. I wanted some more power, so I bought everything I needed to do a minime swap, including conversion harnesses, p28 with hondata s300, and gaskets, the whole nine yards and even shit I don't really need. Well, the problem is that I don't have the time, or the energy or the desire anymore to do a headswap. It makes me sad, but at the same time it makes me happier because my girlfriend absolutely depsises when I do stuff on my car, and if I were to do a headswap, she'd probably not talk to me for a few days (that's if she knew about it.) So, my dilemma:

Should I sell all my shit, or should I just plan time to do the swap? My car makes about 95HP right now (I had it dyno'd not too long ago, but I've put the stock intake back on) and with the swap I should make around 125-130. I've got everything I need to do the swap. I'm talking everything, just no time. Would it really "give my car new life" or give it a better feel? The thing I'm most concerned about now is fuel economy. I know that doing anything to increase performance will tip the FE scale, but would it be that big of a difference? I also don't want to lose OBD2, but since my car is european spec, it seems like I'll have to lose it, and along with it my ScanGauge. It looks like I'm not going to be going back to the US and A for a good many years, and if I do, I won't bring the car with me, so emissions don't have to factor into it.

Any advice?

ditch the unsupportive girlfriend; she should be handing you tools while you do the swap. :shrug2:

You misunderstood, I ment sell the car stuff not sell the girlfriend.

Another thing to factor into the mix is that I may buy a new car in a year or so. Probably a Jazz.

i didn't misunderstand nothin ;). good luck with you know...that stuff.

Why is your girlfriend so nonsupporting of you working on your car? Is it a question of money? Like, you don't have much money and you really shouldn't be spending it on car stuff? Is it a question of time? Like, you spend all your time working on your car and none with her?

Unless it's one of those two things, then I'm sorry but she's just being a bitch. If you've got plenty of money to spare and you spend plenty of time with her then she's got no right to tell you that your hobbies are stupid or get mad at you for doing things that you're interested in.

I say do the head swap and ditch the girlfriend.

If there's more to this story though, please explain and I may withdraw my judgment...

The problem is not her. She's supportive and doesn't really care that much, because she knows that I enjoy it. The problem is with me not having time right now, I've had all this shit for a few months, and now I'm wondering what to do with it.

Is it worth making the time and the effort to do the swap?

any mods to a car are worth the time and effort!!!

that is a no brainer...
but weather or not its worth YOUR time and effort is a differant story...
you need to figure out what you want...you say your probably gonna sell the car anyway..sell your shit now and invest it into something else..
if you decide your keeping the car then hell yea do the swap..
i did my minime and it was fun and i learned alot....

fuck obd2 FT record

I would have a divorce on my record if my wife didn't approve of working on my car. I don't complain when she likes to get her nails done or anything. To each his own though. Good luck

side note: you know, this is 'hondaswap' and as such you gotta expect you'd hear a lot of 'swap it' vs. nah, it's not worth it..just sayin' the advice you'd get here is loaded.

Yeah, I figured everyone would tell me to swap it, which is what I want to hear. I just have to make the time. Maybe sometime next month.

do a head swap on the g/f :)

i'm with B.

for real though if its getting so bad you have to ask us if you should do the swap.............dont do the swap. Yes you could do the swap on a weekend with some buddies But if you have so much stuff to do then just sell the stuff and get your money back. Wait awhile and in the meantime enjoy the gas mileage from your 95 HP beater. Later get a newer car that you can enjoy. Minimi swap is worthless if your gonna get another car thats prolly gonna be faster stock.

Thanks for the advice taco.

It's not a problem with the girlfriend. I made it sound a lot worse than it really is. She's actually very content with handing me tools, but only for about two hours at a time. I think I'm going to try to sell it all off now.
