Just got this 91 Civic Hatchback. What kind of modification you can get out of D15B1 and this chassis. In future, I probably will do some B Series swap but now want to get the feel for this hatchback before I do anything. I used to have 1300 cc, 1500 CVCC, CRX HF and 2001 Civic LX.

If you plan on swapping a B in the future I wouldn't put any money at all into your D15. What's the point? It's money wasted that could go towards your swap...

aint that bad for starters

D15 ain that bad to begin with. Yea a b series will get you there faster but for quiet a bit more. If you just starting with this Hatch the d series has quite a bit of mods you can do for example, adjustable cam gears headers are cheap as hell. Depending on which manifold you have you might want to think about swapping in the MPFI mani or a Victor X or a Skunk 2 but remember you have to do a few wiring changes in order to swap from DX to HF or Si.(Most D series manis are inner-changeable) Also just from my personal experience swap in a MSD cap, rotor and external coil. numerous cold air set ups. Turbo kits are some what cheap as well. But be carefull where you buy them alot of companies dont include everything you need to install a turbo. If you are short on change go to ebay they have all of this stuff along with a few different ecu chips to tune your motor. As far as the Chassis goes I personnally have KONI adjustables. but I would recommend looking into your suspension as much as you do your motor, if your motor is strong and your suspension sucks then whats the point. Skunk 2 or even some Edelbrocks could float the bill. Dont do the dumbass coil overs off ebay they suck. Anything else let me know I am building the same car.

GOOD LUCK- TRU (PLAN B)

You'll get over it

Yes I did recommend a ebay ECU chip. If the guy plans on doing the B swap eventually He might as well not go all out and get what power he can get now on a minamal budget. The ecu chip I bought on EBay worked just fine. I even soldered it into my ecu myself and have never done one before. It gave me a little just what I expected for the money I gave. Anway If you find that what I recommend usefull leave me some rep. If not thats kool too. As for those disagreeing on what I say thats all fine and dandy everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Oh by the way you might not want to question what a SOLDIER says its just not good carma. Peace out

So just because you're a soldier, that means you're automatically a Honda tuning genius as well? I have nothing but respect for our armed forces, but that comment is just plain stupid, sorry. I hate it when people throw around their Army creds and then expect that they should be treated like royalty everywhere. I respect what you do and the danger you put yourself in, but it doesn't mean no one should ever disagree with something you say, especially when it's clear that you don't know what you're talking about.

If you're having good luck with an Ebay chip, then consider yourself one of the lucky few. The majority of them are crap, they just advance your ignition and fool your ECU into dumping in extra fuel, thereby causing you to run rich. All they do is cause shitty gas mileage, and eventually knocking and pinging.

You should never ever use a pre-programmed chip on a Honda. Tuning is not a "one-size-fits-all" kind of thing. You need to tune with your specific engine setup in mind. The best choice would be to take your car to an actual professional tuner with a dyno and let them tune it for you. The next best choice would be to get your ECU chipped, and then go to one of the numerous tuning websites, choose a base map that matches your engine build and modifications list as close as possible, and use that.

You could also get some kind of piggyback device (V-AFC or whatever) and tune that way. I don't really like piggybacks much myself, but I'd much prefer them to a crappy $20 Ebay "performance chip".

And I agree with you that he shouldn't be spending a lot of money on his D-series if he's going to swap to a B soon. That's why I recommend not doing anything to it at all. If anything, just a cheap intake would be my recommendation. Why mess with installing some junk performance chip that could potentially fuck up his motor? He'll probably want to sell the D15 once he gets his swap in, so I'd recommend that he keep it as stock and in as good of shape as possible...

hi i have a d16z6 vtec . if i put z6 head on a d15b2 block will i get any more power? and i dont have a vtec ecu so how can i make that work?

so i cant get anything besides a ecu to make vtec work
i mean you can rig it to a switch but it still want work 100% the way it should because the ecu controls the fuel and such

Wow you SMART

If you would take into context what I said I meant that what I had to say was a SUGGESTION not a recommendation. I do not want to be treated like royalty at all WISE ASS!! Dont ever again refer to me as such. On another note just because I am in the service doesnt mean what I have to say is always right. We as soldiers can be wrong too. DUH look at the middle east and all that cluster fuck.

Anyway please dont take into offese what I have to say. If you or the guy who originally started this post or the other guy asking questions wants to tune a D series or a B series by all means take in all suggestions and make a choice for yourself. Thats called research.

As for the ZC question your going to need a V Tech ECU no matter what. The car will run like dog shit if you dont use the right parts. Sure you can swap the head onto the car but in order to do it right your going to need the ECU and depending on your motor and current set up a few other things might be neccessary. What are you running now specifically?

in your own words you said you recommend a ebay chip

Once Again

My recommendation was to try what you want. I cant tell them what to buy install rig or whatever. Dont twist my words around. I wouldnt demote anyones product until Ive tried it myself. Thats why I like the chip I have now. Although I have tuned it on a Dyno I would have to say that there was not much difference. Between the chip from ebay and the one Purchased locally for twice as much. Either way Let them decide for themselves what they want. All we can do is suggest. And thats all I am going to say.

ok soldier...my dads in the middle east..and i really dont appreciate any of the shit you have to say...quite frankly if yo were here right now...i would stomp a mud hole in your candy ass....you come on this site recommending garbage products and then try goin roundy round with the big boys that have been here and will be here way longer than you...smarten the fuck up..
ebay chips are garbage,,they are not tuned for the specific car, they are tuned,on generalization..which means..........this chip will not control his car the way its supposed to

Grats on being a soldier roninallout79, I could care less, that was your choice and I don't want to hear about it.

Uh, no. In your second post, you clearly did say you were recommending the Ebay chip. What does it matter anyway? I don't care whether you "suggested it" or "recommended it"; looking at it in context (which is what you asked for, right?) it's all the same. You brought it up as a possible solution; that's all I was getting at...

And FYI, it's "karma", not "carma".
