ACCOKEEK, Md. - A car plowed into a crowd that apparently gathered to watch a drag race on a suburban road early Saturday, killing seven people and injuring at least four, police said.

The car went out of control on Route 210 around 3:40 a.m. and hit people standing on the roadside, Prince George's County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said. A tractor-trailer that came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash, he said.

I'm sure most of you will agree with me, but not outright admit it, I used to be mad with all the law enforcement that would take place with street racing. Granted, I was racing back in 2000 before all the fast and furious bullshit. Things keep getting worse, the drivers are getting younger and younger. Now i don't think we have enough cops on the roads.

I remember when it was uncommon to be at the street races if you were under 21, or even 25. now it is a bunch of 16-20 year old kids that are fucking around.

Street racing is getting worse and worse. but people have been racing since cars were invented. look at shit like "grease" when they race the cars they build. what the hell is going on here?

Boo....the car that hit every body wasn't even a racer.....just some idiot who don't know how to drive....after the cars that were racing took off, this dumb ass plowed into every one from BEHIND them.....although they were some idiots for crowding a street at night....but the guy didn't even have n his headlights at 3am....He even had a body of one of the spectators in his car like he had a passenger....range of ages of the spectators/victims...20 to 60(!)....what was gramps doing watching an illegal street race at 3am is the real question here....

The crowd then moved into the road to watch the cars drive away. The combination of the smoke and the dark morning likely meant the driver of the approaching white sedan could not see the crowd. No charges were pending.

Gaines said the car did not have its lights on, but police could not confirm that.

obviously she is going to say the car did not have the lights on. She also states that she grab her daughter but could not save her father. so that would lead me to believe she saw the car coming at the last second. The cop also states it is a long dark 2 lane highway. You telling me the guy driving the white car didn't know he had his lights off.

I personally feel bad for the guy driving the white sedan. This poor guy has to go on the rest of his life living this nightmare. I can't even imagine the dreams he is going to have and as far as i am concerned the 2 " drag racers" should be held accountable for these murders.
