1) Can anyone approximate how much gain a MPFI swap would yield? Maybe 5 HP? Consider MPFI is being swapped in to a 92 HP d15b2 in good condition.

2) Is it much more difficult to install a new header while the engine is in as opposed to out? I question because i'd rather not blow a ton of cash right now. I'd rather swap the engine now and header later. But if it doesn't make sense then i wont.

thanks for reading

I can't say anything about the MPFI swap, as I've never personally done one.

The header though, I have done. It would certainly be extremely easy to install one if the motor was out of the car, but it's really not that bad to do with the motor in the car either. I just detached the old one and pulled it out from underneath, and then bolted together the two halves of the new header, and raised it up into place from underneath the car. It's really not bad at all...

Did Honda even use DPFI in 92? I thought 91 was the last year in the US. But its might only be 5-10 hp but on a low HP motor it makes a difference. It gives you better response throughout the whole range so you can't look at it like its just a 5hp gain. I did this years ago on a civic I owned. It was probably the best mod I did. I got better MPG and it pulled harder at all rpms.

When i said "a 92" I was referring to a 92 Horsepower engine, not a 1992 civic. Sorry for not being clear.

And thanks for your input on the MPFI.

i just did the swap from dpfi to mpfi you will notice the difference in power just make sure you have everything first
ex. new wiring harness for the manifold and make sure it lines up with your cabin harness if not you have to rewire the whole car from head lights to tail lights

the only thing you will need for the swap. is a obd-0 si dizzy. manifold.. u can use a si.z6, or a y8 if u find the right one.. a obd-0 ecu.. pm6 or pg7.. i would recomend the pg7.. u can get a lil more out of them... if u can also find a sohc si head.. it would be even better... also u would need to extend a couple of sensors.. and i think run 3 or 4 more wires.. its a pretty easy set up.. i did it to my 91 dx hatch... if u have any questions let me know...
