to start off so you dont think im a newb lol... i have been working on hondas for almost 9 years now and i have done alot of b swaps and d swaps i know alot about wiring and engine modifications.. but im stumped on this one

i have a 97 spec itr swap in my 95 ex.. and when i got the swap done i paid for everything to be wired up but instead of running a ecu with a knock board on it he used a p28...

so i wired up the knock sensor and im now running a chipped p30 that i chipped myself and street tuned myself.. the car runs great.. alot better then the map i gor with it, but its still giving me a cel for code 23 "knock sensor" but i ran a seperate wire to the knock sensor plug straight from ecu pin d3 and i have both wires on the knock plug hooked up.. the red and yellow blk of course ylw/blk is the ground but im still getting code 23...

does that just mean that my knock sensor is bad? id rather not just disable it.. id rather have everything working like oem..

btw the resaon i didnt do the swap myself in the first place is because i was working 6-7 day weeks and i didnt have any time to do it.. so i paid a trusting person to do it for me.. but now i have wiring issues that ive fixed and little crap that pisses me off...

check list for knock sensor:

unplug the ecu for 30 seconds and the plug it back in.
do a continuity check on the wire.
make sure you are using an inulated wire for the knock sensor (otherwise youll get false CELs).

if all these go are checked off then youll probably need a new knock sensor.

thankyou for the quick reply...

as i was doing the knock sensor wiring, i unhooked the battery and pulled it out and then ran the wire because i ran it through the wiring loom so it looks oem.. (i hate loose wires)...

ill get the honda book and do the voltage test on the knock sensor.. i just really didnt want to pull it out...

btw does the knock sensor need 1 wire or 2 wires? because my plug had a red wire and a ylw/blk wire and i hooked the wire from the d3 spot in the ecu to the red wire and hooked the ylw/blk to the harness ground plug

i think mine just had a single wire (H22). I hacked mine in, so i dont remember what the original color of the plug was. I think it was Red and Green, but dont hold me to that.

plug itself is green wire is ...? cant remember off hand maybe red grn, anyway its a single wire sensor as the knock sensor acutually produces voltage like a small microphone.
