It got beat by a Gallardo on Best Motoring at Tsukuba.

+1 for nissan.

They have been making joke cars since they phazed out the Silvia and Skyline. Its about time the produce a sexy, turbocharged monster.

EDIT:

Even if you dont like this car, you have got to admit that it will do GREAT things for competition in the auto industry.

indeed it will do "things"

great things???

i doubt it

at least not what i would consider "great things"

"great" to me is a small fast uber handling car with minimal fluff... think Lotus Exige S

i know everyone has their own ideas of what a great car is, what a great car could be, or what a great car should be... and i know my oppinion is one of the less popular versions... i just dont see yet another bloated overweight car that makes up for its lard assedness with gobbs of power as being all that much different from what is already out there... and its definitely not headed in a different or new direction...

and all of that video game-esque, techno babble bullshit that they have loaded that car up with only takes away from what a real drivers car is supposed to do (hint: put the driver in touch with the road)

so while it might have impressive performance and handling numbers, and might be better on paper than a lot of its competition... i wouldnt think twice about getting a more purified driving car over it any day of the week... because at the end of the day im sure the slower exige is shit tons more enjoyable and more rewarding to drive

god damn, did they model the rear of the car after JLo? holy ass, batman.

Well.

It handles well, has monstrous power, and is cheep.

This will force other car companies to compete. Our vettes, vipers, and other performance cars will become much better as a result.

Toyota may even come back into the game.

I love the new GT-R, but my only turn off, and the one that would actually prevent me from buying one (if I had the coin) is that it is not offered in a true manual-trans version. IMHO, I'm with E on the true sports car theme. If I'm going to buy a drivers-car, I want to be able to select my own gears.

As a high-speed gran-tourer , the GT-R can't be beat. Drivers car? Give me an Exige S240.

7:38 on the Nürburgring? Holy shit. I say again: Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Fucking amazing. That's really fucking fast. That's an average speed of 172.9km/h (107mph). That's insane. I think my average speed was like 100km/h (60 mph) (After I did 8 test-laps).

Well, here are your choices: A Ferrari BB512 or a Datsun Skyline.

The Skyline has ALWAYS been Nissan's chassis for demonstrating the technology they can lay down. that's what makes it different. Other cars in it's class (Flagship models) like the supra showcase how much power the company can put to the ground.

And the correct answer is, The Berlinetta. The Berlinetta...

I forgot how bad the 350Z failed.

When Nissan produces another 2400lb rwd track car that makes 300 to the rear tire... I'll care... right now its going to pick up exactly where the R34 left off.... in tuning shops shooting for insane amounts of power and shooting for drag records that can only be touched by oil tycoons.

The 350z is a complete failure.

Silva > 350z.

Hell, i used to spank those 350's with my S14 and it had a stock motor.

lol, ok,

I agree that your opinion is the Z is a failure. Last time I checked it was still the best dollar for performance car out there. Lets not forget it was one of the best selling sports cars of 2000s

Stock 350zs can run mid 13s to low 14s. All in the driver, there's many videos out there showing that. Just because you can race an asshat that can't drive a Z in beat them doesn't mean the Z sucks. besides stock for stock I'd love to see an S14 out handle a Z.

FWIW I raced a Katana motorcycle when I was in my 350Z, I stayed right with the guy.

What does that mean? it means the guy on the bike couldn't ride worth shit. Same goes for the Zs you've raced =)

When did Nissan (or any one) make a 2400lb car that put down 300WHP? I can't think of a single car, at least, not a single car outside of supercar level cars.

I'd like to see any new car at that weight and that power that is made for mass production, unless you buy stripped down car like a Lotus, it just aint gonna happen.

Werd.

Most of you tards on this board need to pull your head out of your asses.

The days of <2500lb cars are over. Current technology prohibits those light weights when coupled with the amenities that drivers demand and the safety equipment that the government mandates.

Very few people would like to be in a 2400lb car versus a 4000lb SUV should the dire happen. I don't have a link to the statistic, but I've read in the past that 80% of the people hurt, in accidents involving SUVs, are drivers of non-SUV vehicles.

From a non-safety perspective, I'm glad that you all think its great and you want to ride around in a sub 2000lb track car, but that gets old real quickly for most people. Take a look at a car, while it still weighs quite a bit, that was a "stripped down" car - the WRX. Do you know how many people have demanded more features and complained about the interior quality? Only a small segment of people are willing to buy stripped down cars and eventually the majority move into more luxurious cars. It makes little business sense for car manufacturers to offer stripped down cars, when people demand optioned out cars.

Yes, I know the smart car weighs nothing and is safer than most other vehicles. It still doesn't offer the amenities people want, which the primary argument is the space that the smart car is lacking, and it has yet to change the public opinion on "size counting".

If you want those lightweight cars, go back to the years when safety in vehicles was piss poor compared to today and only a small portion of today's modern conveniences were offered or buy street legal track cars like the Lotus. Until then, shut the hell up because your market segment is not significant enough or simply doesn't put its money where its mouth is when it comes to purchasing lightweight vehicles.

Um, wouldn't a 240sx with 427 be more biased towards drag also?

Anyways, a lot of the fastest street cars, on a road course, are GTRs(Mine's, MCR, etc...XS Power too I guess). GTRs aren't that great on the drag strip.

Great lightweight car is Lotus Elise or Exige with K20A swap :D
