so im swappin a b16 into my newly aquired 90 dx. i was wondering how the speedo cable would attatch onto the b16 trans . does the vss still use a driven gear like the cable does? i was thinkin that the only differernce would be that the vss is electrical and the cable is mechanical. works the same eh?

Yes the VSS is still gear driven. It should bolt up to where the cable speedometer gear was.

you're gonna need to get a VSS from a 90-91 integra. the 92-93 integras are obd-1 so i'm not sure if they switched over to the electrical ones for those years.

would i still have to use the vss? i was thinkin that the speedo cable would fit right where the vss is located on the b series trans. so it would work just the same righ? its still drivin the gear for the cable

Yes, it'll still work. From what I've seen, the VSS's from 88-00 Civics and 90-01 Integras are pretty much interchangeable(cable and electric; they bolt up the same)

Now i'm confused lol. Are you saying you're not gonna run a VSS at all and that your just gonna put the cable into the hole where the VSS goes?

He wants to run the cable driven VSS unit(what the CRX's have stock) and was wondering if the B and D-series were the same.

Are you sure you and him are on the same page? lol IDK Kevin, I'm still confused lol

no vss...i was goin to use the cable. wondering if the cable will fit just the same as the vss

you need to look at the vss that is on the b series tranny.
if it has an electrical plug on it then it is eletronic, you can take of the actual electric sensor and plug the analog cable that is currently on your car into the hole, but it is gonna spit it out, alot.
if it does infact already have a electronic vss on it, then you will need the one that b16racer linked you to.

When I say "cable VSS" I'm referring to this(attached pic).

That one is from a 88 DX, and should fit into a B-series transmission.
