whats the average mpg on 86 si? im just wondering how many miles to thetank i should be getting.
 
i'ma go with at least 35mpg. but that's because i had an 89 rex si that got 38mpg consistently, and have a 91 dx that gets 40 consistently. Celerity would know though.
 
my CRX when I first got it (180k miles of low octane fuel, minimal maintanance, cheap everything) got 32-35 mpg. Running around town carefree (Because gas was $1.30 a gallong back then) I could get 28 mpg racing around.

With lots of work to the engine, which basically means freshening up and using only high octane, I have gotten 52 mpg out of a tank. But formulas have changed since 1998/99, so now it was getting 30 ish again under Captain Furhmann's command.

My new goal is 35-40mpg.
 
aight cool. i fixed my idle prob and belts and did an oil change, so we will see how it goes. any lil tricks u guys use to get the max mpgs?
 
just keeping your foot out of it will make the most difference. keep up good maintenance, religiously check your tire pressure, when the time comes to get new tires go for the 175/70/13's, take all the unused crap out of the hatch, trade your sub box with 6 15's for a single 10", and get a skinny gf.

There are things you can buy with debit mastercard.... common sense to put the condom on BEFORE you start slammin' out is not one of them. :)
