I am debating on whether or not to boost a GSR motor or not. with the 10.0:1 compression is that too high for boost, or does that just mean i can hit higher hp with less boost? I plan on fully building the motor, just seeing what I can do to avoid making the comp even higher?

10:1 is not really high, its prolly a good mix of on and off boost power. I just turbo'd a 11.5:1 car :)

As long as the tuning is good it will be ok!

Ok sweet, im shooting for pretty high hp and prolly run Hondata, i still gotta do alot of research on engine mngmt because im not that knowledgeable about that. but i still have a while, just looking ahead.

I've been boosting 8 psi on a stock b18c for awhile now with no problems

knock on wood

i lowered the compression on my motor to 9:1.its a jdm b18c. yes running 8lbs on a stock comp ratio is safe but if you want more psi be careful.i dont know but ive always heard you cant put to much psi on on a high comp motor. i listen to my machinist over anyone else, but thats just him

what did you do to lower the comp? Thicker HG?

B has a good point. My buddy's shop just got a dyno but they only tune with Haltech and SAFC's. They arent willing to learn anything else either. So be aware of what THEY like to use :)

Do they have much success with tuning with SAFC's? Thats what I plan to use on my setup.
