My name is Byron.
Ive got a crank no start on my 94 dx sedan. There is no power going to the fuel pump. I cant hear it whine and when you are in the key on position the lights in the dash stay on. They are supposed to go off after the fuel pump builds pressure. I got a main relay from a local junkyard because I had the same problem with my EF and that fixed it. Does the EG have a seperate relay for the fuel pump or should I just go buy a new main relay that I know works.

it has a main relay and i would start by taking the one i have apart to see if the soldering is fubar

Did you check all your fuses? My 93 Civic died on me while I was driving and would get crank, fuel, but just not start. Then I checked the ECU fuse and it was blown.

Sounds like the relay if you're not getting fuel, that or a faulty fuel pump.

I have two relays, Ive tried both and still nothing. I cant imagine both relays not working. It ran fine when I parked it for the winter. Ive checked the main fuses under both the dash and the hood, there isnt any power to the fuel pump (checked with test light) is there a fuse for the fuel pump anywhere that I dont maybe know about?

Relays usually don't go bad often. It may be the wiring corroded or the wiring on the other end (sending unit). I would test the battery first though. Discharging battery and a blown ecu fuse caused my friends no-start. A new fuse and a jump box cured his problem and he thought he needed a new distributor. Find the problem first before you start buying parts and dishing out cash for nothing.

I still cant figure this thing out. Ive checked all the maxi-fuses under the hood, all the fuses under the dash, and I still dont have any power to the fuel pump. A while ago a wire to the ECU rubbed through and was shorting out, I checked that and all the wires, no problems there. The battery is fully charged, and it has gas in it, just no power to the fuel pump. It just pisses me off because it ran fine before I parked it for the winter and now it wont start.

How do you know there is no power to the fuel pump? Because you do not hear the pump prime when you turn the key to the start position? Get a multi-meter and test the two circuits.

yeah, I cant hear it pump up with key on, and I checked it with a test light in the key on postion and while cranking it over and still nothing.

Is your ecu stock or chipped?? If it is chipped you might have a loose chip in the zif socket.

Did you try another ecu?

Also how did you check your power at the pump??

Did you jump pins 4&5 together on the main relay harness then turn the key on and check for 12v? BTW Pins 4&5 should be yellow and green on both wires.

It could be a bad ground at the pump too. Pin 2 on the fuel pump connector is the ground and it is green/yellow as well. Check for continuity from the ground pin on the pump connector to a body ground.

Oh and you need a multimeter to check this stuff.

The car is completely stock except for I/H/E. I dont have another ECU that will work with it, I have two for my EF but those wont work. It just stumps me because the car ran fine, I parked it for winter and now it wont start. There is no fuel pressure to the rail.
