single lane dirt road with 2 way traffic.

just to give an idea of what it is

I wouldnt be caught dead walking up/down that thing let alone driving on it. It's not like there is something special at the top waiting for you like a hot broad or somethin. :)

I saw that - I think it was on the history channel. They actually have bike (pedal) tours on that road. No thanks.

i would do it. i think it would be great. not a cell phone, computer, bus, internet, taxi, terrorist, bum, bill, taxes, paycheck, or gold digger in site.

that is my paradise.

so its basically a logging road? welcome to Grays Harbor

I honestly don't see what the big deal is... its the same thing as logging road. does anyone even know what a logging road is or does everyone live in a city?

I believe the difference is that road has or had more traffic than your average logging road; as it was used for commuting.

well that may be true. but around here logging roads are still used to get from point A to point B by transversing land paved roads go around. Interesting fact: In Washington State, for every mile of paved road, there are 7 miles of unpaved road.

HS meet on Yungas rd? :-D I'm planning on going on vacation later this upcoming summer anyways.

Well, I haven't really heard of "heavy traffic" on logging roads here in the states. In NC, we just have crappy roads. I know what they're talking about though because although I've never been to Vietnam, my relatives always bring videos back of their tour and some of the roads are like that except occupied by people walking on foot or mopeds. Throw a lot of cars into the equation and I'm sure there will be a lot of accidents.

Also, in Vietnam; the bigger your car is, the more "power" you have on the roads ;) Pedestrians move out of your way.

so yeah, roads like this make me wonder who decided that that elevation on the mountain was better than further down or higher up for a road..

Further down= flooding and higher up= higher chance of falling?

I think it's a good compromise; if you fall, you're falling at half the height of the mountain. Beats being stuck in a flood or falling the full length of the mountain :confused:

yeah i guess i never thought about it that way...smart! it just looks like the middle of a palms-sweating shit sammich to me.

reason being our logging roads still see regular traffic; every winter the Wynoochee River floods, thus flooding the Wynoochee and Chehalis Valley. Since all paved roads are then covered in water, the only way into Aberdeen is through logging roads up in the hills.
