I was just curious, whats the best engine to build for boost to put in a 88 crx dx, I'd appreciate the advice and tips.

If you're going to build the engine it doesn't much matter, since you'll be setting it up for boost. A better thing to do would be to tell us how much money you want to spend and how much power you want to make, and then we can give you some suggestions based off of that.

comeon man..after all the newb threads youve seen..your gonna ask THIS newb question?!?!:D

whats your budget??you can build any motor for boost, you just gotta know what your doing, and how to invest

i would say go with a brodix block big inches like 842 bullet proof bottom end get with eagle on that and some hogged out heads id run 50 lbs of boost that should put you around high 3's low 4's in the 1/8 mile. good luck man you can do it

Just boost a stock gsr. You will spend enough money on the swap and a good clutch/flywheel setup. Buy a decent kit or piece one together. Fuel system and engine management, a good tune on around 10lbs will get you 250-300 whp and will rip on the street real nice.

well I just picked this up View topic - FS turbonetics bb t3/4 "s" trim need cash today... and I'm looking to drop it in the crx with maybe a b16.I want something around 300-400 hp something I could play with on the street and take to the drags and do 13-14 seconds. I'll have to switch it from auto to manual, I've hated that my car was auto since I've got it.
@injen I'm too tired to look for it through the forums, I had to pull 13 hours today so I'm not big on spending time on digging for it right now...lol so shoot me

Still though, you have to admit, your question was extremely vague and noobish...:D

Anyway, I hope you're planning on building the engine before you throw that turbo on. You're not gonna safely see 400 horse on a stock B16 without upgrading the internals. I'd probably go with an LS honestly. I'd rather have more displacement and torque rather than the few extra horses you'd get at high RPMs from the B16, but that's just me.

Either way, you're going to need to build it, and you're definitely going to need a manual transmission if you're planning on making that much power...hope your pockets are deep...

lol my pockets are very shallow actually and yea I am a newb and I admit it =P
hmm is there anyway I can get about 200hp from the engine with a $1500 budget and what would I need.

$1,500 total for the cost of the swap and everything? Or $1,500 for the turbo setup?

Yeah...pretty sure he's looking for a Honda engine...

just the engine, no turbo. I wanted to sell the crx I was doing this in but after sitting and really thinking about it and about how rare crx's are becoming I think I'll just buy a beater and put this in the garage and work on it, the ricer paint job is going to have to go. So heres what I'm going to have to do.....I'll have to swap the automatic with a 5 speed which I'm estimating to be about $600, I have to get a new radiator because mine just bit the dust ($140), hasport mounts ($150-$200) OBD0 conversion kit ($???) new cambers and suspension ($600-$800) I'm getting off track...anyway as you can see i have a LONG way to go. I'm not going to worry about turbo right now, I figure I could make a few bucks off of it.

Ah, ok. Well for $1,500 you could do a B16 or an LS. I'd probably go the LS route personally, because you can always add a VTEC head later.

300-400whp to "play" with on the street and run 13-14's on the 1320? My friend, 300whp in a crx on slicks WILL go 11's with good tire and driver.

ahhh ok, so does anyone have a vtec head for sale? :D I have found a b16 block with eagle rods for $325 and was reall wanting to go with that but I'd like a second opinion....

well to be honest I'm not very experienced with a straight drive, I don't have the oppurtunity to drive a 5 speed often so my driving skills are lacking so I'll have to improve that before I can hit 11's

Hahaha, that's what I consider sucking on street tires. A cheerleader, doing her make-up, and not even racing you will still beat you to the next stop light in her stock VW Rabbit.

Yea but I will look CooLeR SpiNNinG WHeeLs yO!

lol, if its not too much trouble can someone link me a good site or thread to read up on ls vtecs when I get back from work tonight, I'd appreciate it.
