is there another place where i can down load free music to burn, besides lime wire. my comp has decided that it hates lime wire and it wont let me use it.

i think people on here like azeurus (sp?). viasta>limewire plus limewire=jail

i changed from azureus to utorrent a while back. I actually like it a little better.

well i just tried a different one, something is up with my comp because just like lime wire evry time i open it, the norton blocker keep coming up and even when i say allow permit it still dont and keeps coming up. its never done this before.

Utorrent is the bestest ever. Make sure you get version 1.5 though. DO NOT get the newest version.

after i down load that one, how do i search and down load music

utorrent is a torrent client, different than p2p programs. you go to a website, find what you want, and download a small .torrent file which the program uses to connect to the tracker and download. theres a ton of sites out there. try out youtorrent.com or The Pirate Bay. I'm not gonna link to anything because I'm not really sure if that violates any of B's rules about that stuff, can't remember.

Google TPB or The Pirate Bay, best place to find torrents. You drag and drop those tiny little files into Utorrent, then they should start downloading. Of course assuming there are seeders and leechers for the file.

I've gotten a lot of good stuff with utorrent. The last cd I bought was the new Linkin Park cd, and that's only because I'm a Linkin Park nut.

A lot of trackers banned older utorrent clients.
for example a place that I frequent only allows these clients
  • µTorrent 1.6.1 build 490
  • µTorrent 1.7.6 build 7859
  • µTorrent 1.8 build 7895
  • Azureus 2.5.0.4 and newer 2.x versions
  • Azureus 3.0.4.2 and newer 3.x versions
  • btpd
  • Halite 0.2.9 and newer

use Firefox as your browser and d/l the Download Helper plug-in and then go to your favorite bands MySpace page and rip the music off their page. thats what i did and so far its worked pretty damn good.

yeah, get the free one.

Yea the free one is all you need. The one that you pay for i think gives you a firewall and stuff, but you don't really need it as long as you arent clicking all over the damn place on shitty sites. I honestly haven't used an anti-virus on my laptops in over 3 years and have never had any issue, but I am very careful about where i go online also.

As for how to get Utorrent to start downloading, when you go to a torrent site, you need to first figure out what you want to download. On Youtorrent, for example, it has a search bar that searches multiple torrent sites and gives you the results.

Ok, so say you want to search for something like the latest NIN album. You would type in some keyword about it, just like searching on google. it would then pull up a bunch of results. Now you can sort the results in a few different ways, by name, date, # of seeds, etc by clicking on the top of the respective column. BTW, you should read up on what seeds and leeches are, but basically its the # of people downloading and uploading. The best way to pick which torrent to download, if there are a few of what you want, is to find the one with the highest # of seeders with the fewest leeches.

When you click on that one, it will take you to that torrents page, and there should be hyperlinked text there with something along the lines of "Download Torrent" or something like that. If you are using firefox, when you click it, it should ask you what you want to do. The easiest thing to do is click run this file, and set Utorrent to be the default program.

Everything should be pretty much automatic from there. Utorrent should open on its own, then ask you where you want to save the file to.
