93 Civic DOHC 1.8
New at this concept of swapping engines in a civic so bear with me. Got a 93 civic coupe. Putting a b18a1 in it. Ported the head and decked the block, balanced the rotating assembly. My question is, is it possible to run 14 seconds 1/4 mile times without turbo, nitrous or vtec? If it is what else would I need to do to the motor. I know about headers and intake and TB but am I missing something. Its my daily driver and I do not want to turbo it and nitrous is too dangerous for me. Already have a 10 sec race car. Just need something fast to drive everyday. Do not slam me too hard I am new at this.

You definitely can with the B18A- it just takes a good tuning hand and some aggressive cams.

Calesta is correct. Vtec killer cams, and a new valvetrain with tuning will get you 14's easily. Those vtec killer cams are no joke. Toda makes them. Build the head and run those cams and you will see 13's easily.

thanks for all the info so far. Where can I get LS cams. Like Toda? I know about Crower cams but not Toda. Crower seems pretty expensive. Compared to a small block solid roller cam like I have on my race car.

well i haven't 1/4'd my car yet, but im running a 97 civic coupe dx with a JDM 180hp GSR w/civic type r cams, sk2 pro2 intake, hondata manifold gasket, 68mm TB, rc 310 fuel injectors, walhbro 255lph fuel pump, aem fuel rail and a no name fuel pressure regulator, integra type r exhaust manifold, omni test pipe, apexi world sport 2 exhaust, and a fidanza 7.5lb flywheel, and a obd2a-obd1 conversion harness going to a chipped and tuned p28.. and that thing SCREAMS:eek:. ive already hit 140mph in it and backed out cause it was still going and i was running outta room to stop... i love airport access roads LOL!

i just gotta get my vibration fixed now.... lol... axles??

oh ya.. and.. Toda cams are AWESOME!.. but i stuck with CTR cams to keep my stock vailvetrain.. for now :D

Wrong. Why would you use VTEC killer cams on a non-VTEC engine? Why would you want to use VTEC killer cams in any street engine? They won't work in a B18A, and even if they did, you wouldn't want to drive them on the street.

Toda makes good stuff, but they don't make non-VTEC cams as far as I can tell. Not too many companies do, but Crower does make really good non-VTEC cams. Search around and you can find other non-VTEC cams for a good price.

Got a dyno chart?

Already got all the bearings and bottom end gasket set. Know just waiting on block to get back from machine shop. Anybody know were I can get P30 pistons? Need them bad so I can get rotating assembly balanced. Thanks!!!

ebay, nippon pistons, $150, just search p30...

Got a dyno chart?

goes in for dyno tuning tomorrow night. ill have the car back by friday night. Ill post it as soon as i get it. im excited to see :D

im not expecting 200 at the wheels.. but its my goal. considering there is NO head work other then cams.. its gonna be a tough number to hit. but i think there is enough on there to get it really close.

it IS a b18c JDM spec after all so.. that usualy good for (as i've been told, but havent seen) about 156 at the wheels stock.

so im looking to be at around 190, thats about 35 or so "bolt-on" hp. thats attainable i think.

i already KILLED a us spec integra GSR w/ I/E/H/TP/... and type r spoiler LOL!

today i smoked a old barracuda boat tail. felt good about that one :D

Ill post what i got as soon as i get the car back from them.

oh and the shop is Intec Racing in Kent WA. Free rep for them :D

I second those numbers. That will tell me approximately what I'm putting down also. Except for i'm running a GSR computer, and have the C1 block.

obd1 or 2?
ahh and you got the USDM gsr. that puts me at 10hp already then yours. i coulda had a usdm gsr rebuilt and all put in for 2400, but i decided that wasnt good enough for me.. so i spent almost 8000 on it now.. but i think it was worth it :D

3300 for the motor w/everything and shipped
then ebay'd everything else.. except for the pully, cams, and password:jdm intake

all said and done... i should have just bought a god dam type r motor.. i woulda had LSD, the fancy red valve cover, and that oh so fancy 5 stamped on the block

I'm guessing its a obd 2 computer. But i also have the password:jdm intake, sk2 intake, dc 4:1 header, ITR pistons, and cams. I just need to go get a tuning software and have it tuned now.

ah you got me on the pistons. i haven't rebuilt the block yet so im still runnin stock. i was however looking into changing out the head gasket and adding arp head bolts to up the compression ratio.. but thats gonna be a risky move. idealy, i wanna get this thing up and running perfectly and come later this summer boosting it to 6-8 psi and/or addin a 50-75 shot of giggly juice. this way i can keep it streetable and not kill the thing daily driving it.

the car is in the shop right now getting dyno tuned, ill have it out most likely by 6. ill have spit out some numbers for you guys when i get the car back and i check to ensure its all in good shape again.

Some decent numbers there  . We should get people together on Hondaswap that are from the Seattle area and do a cruise one of these times.

im down. i met a guy last night that had a 95 integra wth a b16 swap and some itr internals and port/polished head. we had about 4 runs on the freeway and i got him everytime.

im so glad i went witht he b18. the whole reason i did was the torque. i wanted to do the h22, but after iheard all the horror stories and mod issues.. i backed out. the good thing to this motor is i could drop it right into my DC2 :D
