911 call ends tragically

step 1 - shoot intruder(s)
step 2 - ensure threat is stopped and you are safe
step 3 - call 911

:disgust1:

:(
I doubt it works that way in cali
step 4: police arive
step 5: you're arrested for murder
step 6: your asshole gets raped for the next 20yrs

step 4: police arive
step 5: you're arrested for murder
step 6: your asshole gets raped for the next 20yrs

Steps four through six can be avoided if subroutine A is followed:

1: Lead them, make sure they get well into the house.
2: Shout a warning. This can be FREEZE - BANG in about as many seconds as it takes to say it, but you warned them.
3: Shoot them in the front. Never shoot them in the back, its shows intend to flee.
4: Use hollow points. Its rude to have bullets pass out into the neighborhood. Also, per step one, they need to be dead.
5: Fire multiple rounds.

Follow this simple formula and steps 4-6 can be avoided.

Or just live in Texas and you can chase them out onto the lawn guns blazing and the cops will give you a tax voucher for expended ammo...

:axe:

this is why everyone should own a gun

i know you are being sarcastic in saying that. but yes... this is why law abiding citizens should be able and allowed to defend themselves.
it has been shown time and time again. when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

if you remember i posted an actual 911 call before... the lady called as a stalker was trying to break into her home... she retreated to an upstairs bedroom, locked the door and armed herself with a gun... the police were on their way, in the mean time you can hear the guy breaking in and searching through the house for her until he breaks in the room and tries choking the woman, she ends up shooting the intruder while he is choking her... shortly there after the police showed up...
who's body would you prefer they were cleaning up off the floor?

step 5: you're arrested for murder
step 6: your asshole gets raped for the next 20yrs

OK then
step 1 - secure your firearm
step 2 - call 911 so that they are on the phone (and recording) as your witness
step 3 - announce to the intruders that you are armed and are in fear for your safety, 911 has been called and the police are on their way
step 4 - shoot intruders if necessary

the first step should always be protecting yourself, or securing a means of protecting yourself
calling for help, be it screaming or dialing 911, only works if someone who can and will protect you hears you and responds quickly enough to still be some help

i don't have 24 hour armed personal security guards who are willing to take a bullet for me... so i instead choose to carry a means of protecting myself... but i also know and understand that a gun is not a magic talisman and is not going to protect you from harm or wrong doing simply by its presence... that is why i go to the range and practice with it very regularly... shooting, just like anything else, is a skill that must be practiced and honed to be effective and accurate

now once again i am not saying guns are the answer to everything. i am also not advocating that everyone has to or even should own a gun.
all I'm saying is that, if someone intends to harm me, i don't intend to simply place my life and or safety in their hands or anyone else's

12´s are good too. No rifleing (spelling) in the barrel = no ballistics pattern on rounds expended. Also you can easily pop a round into the breach while it is still at your shoulder.

Let me say this first, I avoid violence. Its not worth the paperwork/jail time. I don´t own a gun, i know i would use it. I have a dog. I´m also willing to beat someone to death with a hammer if they decide to fight through my dog to do my family harm.

If you do have a gun remember this though:

If you pull it you better be ready to empty the whole thing into somebody or multiple somebodies to get the job done. There is gonna be blood death and pain once that thing goes off. People only get wounded through sheer luck or in the movies.

If it isn´t worth all that mess, don´t pull one. If you are not willing to engage in all that mess, don´t own one.

That sucks about that woman. I hope the bastard bled to death...

rifeling is not nessacary today, they can match shell casings by firing pin imprints. and depending on the type of extractor, the extractor markings

yeah, for a handgun to be untraceable you pretty much have to replace the whole receiver.

i agree... and I'm pretty much the same way... i will do pretty much whatever i can to avoid violence... but i understand that sometimes you are offered, or are left with, no other choice... and at that point i will defend myself and those around me with whatever means necessary and or available
as a combat medic in the army i learned how guns work and what they do. i also know that there is no calling that bullet back after its fired... you don't get a "do over" and no amount of "I'm sorry" will fix a bad call or poorly aimed shot... you don't get an "oops"
this is why the 4 rules apply at all times
  1. All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule. Its violation is directly responsible for about 60 percent of inadvertent discharges.
  4. Identify your target, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified.
That sucks about that woman. I hope the bastard bled to death...
yep... and the woman was not charged... happy ending all around

If anyone thinks they "get it" when it comes to personal safety, they aren't voting democrat.

And the way I learned it is,

1. 3 to the chest
2. 1 to the head
3. reload

In certain states, even if it's in self-defense, they'll get rid of your carry permit and confiscate your weapons. And that's the worst thing to worry about. If you're doing it in self defense, you won't "go get ass raped for 20 years". If someone meets you in a back alley, and pulls a weapon, feel free to defend your body as you see fit.

The key here is not to kill someone because they want your stuff. You DO need to provide evidence or reason that your or someone near you, has had their life in danger. Not their wallet or car.

i think this part is bullshit
if you break in my house you sign your own death warrant

Look at the previous cases in court... You're wrong. You have to provide some sort of reason that you felt your life was actually in peril. The recent home invasion cases may do the trick without a problem, but I can't shoot you because you're a guest in my house, and insulted my drape scheme.
