GSR Swapped/Gutted
ok so i just got my car out of the shop from having the gsr dropped in.
it ran 180.7 whp and 134.8 tq..

im looking at building up a turbo setup for this car in the near future and wanted some input as to what i should look for.

idealy, id like to see around 250 to the wheels on a DAILY driver setup. 8 psi??
stock internals on my jdm gsr would be nice, i dont mind changing cams or valvtrain though. it does have CTR inake cams on it now with stock gsr internals.

any full kits i can get my hands on or other suggestions would be great. Thanks guys

i do realize at this point i should probably post in the forced induction area.. but, i do have a swap and not sure what would work w/ it.

what is done to your gsr to get 180.7 WHP??

JDM b18c GSR
Sk2Pro2 intake manifold w/hondata gasket
PasswordJDM Power Chamber Intake
Civic Type R Intake Cam w/ stock cam gears
Omni Test Pipe
Apexi World Sport 2 Exhaust
obd2a-obd1 conversion w/chipped and dyno tuned p28
10.3mm wires and iridium plugs on stock ignition

everything else is bone stock :D
oh and the car is gutted from behind the front seats :D 13 second car anyone??
ive killed alot of GSR integra's and just killed an integra w/ b16 swap and internal mods... thats not hard though.. hes got a crappy torque motor.

according to the shop i took it to, they said im puttin down numbers a h22 with similar mods would put down. i dont believe that myself but the tuner said even his eg w/h22 had lower numbers then mine.

i thought h22's were 200hp and 156tq at the crank?? take away 20% for drivetrain and... thats 160hp and 125tq. so. theoretically.. i guess ya. i am putting down better numbers then a stock h22.. right?

nice nice, i am having a gsr installed right now into my 93 coupe, which im going to get dyno tuned at teknotic

Nice numbers.

BTW, you don't pick a HP goal at a certain PSI. PSI shouldn't mean much to you as long as you're not pushing the limits of the turbo or other mechanical parts, obviously.

If you want 250 hp, you want 250 hp, don't worry, you may chose a turbo that needs to be tuned at 10, maybe 15 psi to get you there, it's meeting your goal that's most important.

hehe ok i think you guys are miss reading it or i worded it wrong.

id like to see 250 or so with no more then 8 psi. i dont wanna pressure my internals very really at all. i was just trying to be realistic with the 250 @8 number. i never really gotten into boost. hell this is my first swap even other then putting a D16a6 into my ef 4 door lol but that was easy.

i really dont wanna worry about stressing my block too much or have to worry about modding internals to bring compression down. as it sits, its 10.6:1. im debating either stay NA and get my fuel going on this thing, get the header on it, and slapping a thinner head gasket on it and have the head shaved to try and bring it up to somewere around 11.:1 11.5:1. then get it a port-n-polish

that should put me in the 230 whp range i would think.

the funniest thing about this is, im doing all this just to smash on my coworkers track built 95 h22 prelude. its stock motor wise except intake. but has tein suspension, light weight wheels, strut bars, braces, blah blah blah. the thing is amazing on the track even though its heavy.

i know as it sits right now i can take him in a quarter. my wheel numbers are better then his and im about 500 lbs lighter

anyways, back to boosting.. any recommendations? i keep hearing t3/t4 best way to go. someone told me be sure that i dont get the td4oE or what ever turbo. someone else told me to just slap on the greddy kit.. price is kinda heavy for how basic it is i thought unless someone knows where i can get it cheep.

i was also looking at xspower's kits are REALLY complete. but ultimately, i should probably just take it to a shop and have it done and tuned at the same time i guess.. lol

you will be better off piecing a turbo kit together, and as posted above psi means nothing, you could possibly run 12-15 psi with a t25 on the stock motor however it is a very small turbo and does not put out that much cfm

now with a t3/t4 the max on a stock block would be 9 psi unless you have a great tuner. the t3/t4 will put out almost double the cfm compared to a t25, hence the old saying the more air you can push through your motor the more power you will make

also the t25 will spool up very quickly probably around 1700rpm but die around 5,500 rpm with only hot air blowing out afterwords, the t3/t4 will will take a little longer to start spooling usually around 3,000 rpms and will build power to close to 7,000 rpms

heres are some sites that will help you out

A friend of mine has a CL with an h22 with skunk2 cams and bolt-ons and he made 200whp tuned on crome. 180whp isnt bad at all for what you have done. Ditch the cams and put the stock gsr cams back in, they are better suited for boost. Peakboost kit would be ideal for your stock gsr, and with a moderate sized turbo (50-60 trim), you can make 300whp easily on 11psi with the proper fuel system and tuning. 300whp on the street is great. 551whp on the street...is not. :)
