Hi everyone. I am new to this forum but definately not new to Hondas.

Mods - Please forgive me if this is in the wrong section and feel free to move it accordingly.

I am looking for someone in the High Desert area of So Cal (Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, maybe Lancaster and Palmdale) to take on this project.

I have a 1977 Honda Civic CVCC that I love. It currently has a head gasket leak or worse, a cracked head. I do not have the time or the knowledge to fix this myself. It also has the stock Hondamatic 2 Speed transmission.

I also have a 1978 Honda Accord with a new engine in it and a 1975 Civic with a 4 speed manual transmission. I would like the engine from this Accord put into my 1977 Civic and the transmission from the 1975 Civic also put into my 1977 Civic.

My hope is that my 1977 Civic will become my daily driver again. I drive on the freeway and the transmission as is does not handle it well.

I am also open to the possiblity of a D15 type swap (or ???) since they seem to be laying around. The car only weighs 1575 lbs so I do not need a DOHC Vtec or anything like that.

I am willing to pay cash. Please comment or contact me if you have anything to add. Thanks.

Though I am all the way in Florida and would not really be able to help you either way, I am still wishing you the best of luck on this. Would you be able to post some pictures of your cars? I'm curious to see the pictures of such a dedicated Honda owner. Take care and good luck once again.

Man must be nice, I bet both those CVCCs are in better shape than my 89' hatch. lol. Of course I live in Ohio. I dont hink you could pass emissons with that swap, Im not 100% sure on that though. But GL with it, and def post some pictures of them.

i'll have a d15 out of my 93 as soon as i get a new head for my b16 im in AZ not really that far i got inlaws in cali ill let u know

Have you done any research into this as far as whether or not any of those engine/tranny swaps will bolt in or not? Do you know whether or not the Accord engine will bolt up to the Civic tranny you plan on using? All of these things need to be considered. If you have to custom fab engine mounts then I'd say it's probably not worth it to try this. You should just look for a rebuilt head/engine instead.

You'll have to custom fab mounts for a D15 swap for sure, plus make all kinds of wiring changes (you'd be going from carb'd to MPFI). Check the "auto multimedia" section down near the bottom of the forums. We have two members swapping newer motors into older Civics. They might be able to give you some pointers...

hey! another AZ guy! woo hoo..... do you get on azht?

Anyway, to do those swaps willt ake some serious effort since no one makes any kind of engine mount kit for it and then there's the whole running fuel injection in the carburated car so you'll have to have some sort of stand alone setup for the engine. But damn if you did it! that would be sweet! My neighbor used to have a beautiful 1980 Civic wagon I wanted to buy so bad and put a D16Z6 in and update the rear suspension to independent since it had some rear beam in it. Good luck man! Let us know how it goes...wish i was closer, I'd love to help.

I just came across this forum but if you still have this car I have a new crate engine that may work for you. It is a ED3 1.5L and I have attached photos for your consideration. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks Pat Lowell
