Okay, this is the FOURTH time this car has broken down. It breaks down every month almost exactly. Anyway, it's acting like it did when the dizzy gave out. So, the engine cranks, the stereo and all that is getting power, but the car won't start. I dunno wtf is going on with this thing, but it's pissing me off.

Just replaced the dizzy, but does anyone think it could've given out already? It was a new one, not a remanufactured one. Thanks!

If anyone needs anymore specific details, PM me. Btw, for future reference, it's an 89 CRX DX.

I'm going to as soon as my buddy comes to pick me up. I don't have splash guards for the underneath part of my car, so it's an idea I guess. But, I'm gonna check fuses and spark, then compression if I can. Anyone know any way to check compression without having a compression tester? Like you can check spark a few different ways, that kinda thing?

ok,let us know how the spark is,,and as for compression check..just go to an autoparts store and buy one, they are fairly cheap,,or you could rent it,,

Can you her the fuel pump pump up? Your fuel pump is under your rear seat, have a friend turn the car to the "on" postion and listen for a whine from under the rear seat (if you are gutted it will be easier to hear) but you should hear a faint whine for a couple seconds. If you dont you hear it you wont have any fuel pressure, thus causing it to not start, so then it narrows it down to a bad fuel pump or bad main relay as far as fuel delivery. And as far as not having as not having any splash gaurds that shouldnt be a problem, none of my cars have them and I have never had a problem with my dizzy getting wet.

Hmm, that's weird. I dunno, I realized that there's no seal on my dizzy, so water most likely got in there. It's acting like the dizzy crapped out, so I'm fairly sure that's what it is.

I dunno, it's been a month-month and a half since I got the dizzy replaced, anyone know approx. how long it takes for wa-wa to get in there? It has been raining an average of probably every three days here for like 2 weeks now.

The problem might not be the actual rain water getting into it, but condensation build up if you arnet driving it for a while and letting it sit/damp garage.

It's not garage kept and I drive it daily and usually pretty often. I dunno, I think somehow water got in there though. That's the only thing I can think of....it's acting like the dizzy gave out.

every month at about the same time?
your cars a woman, its a period.
stuff a tampon in the exhaust and let it sit for about a week.

then smack it around a bit.

Haha awesome shit.

But anyway I don't think it's water related at all. My car doesn't have splash guards and every time it rains you'll see my ass hydroplaning, spinnin tires, splashing around having all kinds of fun :D. I've never had water get in my intake (short ram) or anything.

Mine was doing the EXACT same thing the other day, fucking died on me and I had to push it 8 blocks back to my trailor. Check the ecu fuse  more than likely it.

Something that I will imput, may not be your problem when my crx took a shit on me, it was the main relay, under the drivers side vent, by the fuse box. Check it, dosnt sound like your problem but you never know

+1 on checking the main relay.

On my old CRX I made the mistake of replacing the engine and finding out it was just the relay. :) All good though since that motor was smoking anyways.

If anyone has one for free, I'm all for it. If not, that's not an option... it's not getting spark to the plugs, acting the same as when the dizzy dies last time.
I think it's that. That's fucked up though...

I think it's your cars way of saying "stuff an h22 in me!'

Lol! Yeah sounds like you just need a real mechanic to do a good job and keep you from breaking down so much.
Obd-0 distributers don't take much for them to fail. 88-91 civic/crx distributers were recalls at one point and I can see why...

Check the distributor, cap and rotor, plugs and wires. Check all fuses in car and in relay. If there is a cel, find out the code/s and look them up in alldata or the such. Check the timing belt for broken teeth, cam gear, crankshaft gear and pulley. If all is in proper order, move onto the fuel system.

ok so your not getting spark, get a new dizzy, somehow water/moisture/condensation is getting in there...what you need to do is get clear rtv and put a nice seal around then entire edge where the cap meets the actual dizzy..
