hey guys just wondering if im going to run into any problems with this swap ..a d16y5 into my 94 cx hatch..i have hx ecu the engine the alternator the distributor and the intake manifold with the egr valve... i do not have the wire harness from the hx... what do i need to switch over to make this engine work in my eg

need to know if i should just switch everything over or to just run it to obd2 somebodylet me know thanks

you need an engine hoist, car jack, jack stands, an engine, an ecu, wiring diagram, helms manual, set of metric tools, 4 quarts of oil, a gallon of radiator fluid, and some anti-seize/wd-40.

i cant believe you people i just want one straight answer...........why do i even bother
you got a straight answer. first you got pissy about nobody answering. then you were so vague about your question, that you got a vague answer.

people on here don't OWE you an answer. we post because we want to. if you want a good answer, take some time and do some research. if you still can't find it, then post a very detailed thread about what you need. i can guarantee you that i could find what you are looking for on this forum without even posting.

posting shit like, "what do i need", or "do i have everything" is pointless. do some research, read a little, then figure out what you are trying to ask. the last thing you want to do is be an asshole and get pissed about asking something that has already been asked 236246256 times.

ok sorry for getting pissy and i did do some research and the past couple days i have been searching for parts and well i got a y8 manifold im switching everything over to obd1 im running the hx throttle body because that is the only one that i have that isnt 1 inch in diameter (LOL cx throttle body) i got a p28 ecu... i guess the only thing im going to need now is a vafc controller to make the vtec- e kick in at 2700- 3000 rpms ( unless somebody says something different) i did some research and i guess this is a decent engine...especially since i only paid 200 bucks for it... if you know something else that i should get for this set up let me know.... thanks in advanced

use a 92-95 DX throttle body on your CX manifold, it will be easier. the HX mani has stuff you wont use on it.

hey thanks but i got a y8 manifold and i used the hx throttle body it all works really good together... i have not put the p28 ecu in the car yet because i havent wired up vtec yet....just wondering if the wiring diagram that i see all over the place for b series engines...is it going to be the same wiring as a d-series or can some one point me in the right direction thanks guys (oh by the way im not driving the car right now it just sits in the garage until i get everything all set on it)

so just run the p28 as is until i find a chipped one? ok cool...just wondering when does the vtec kick in with a p28 anyway?

The P28 won't run the engine correctly. The VTEC crossover is way higher than where it should be on the HX engine. I'm just saying that having an ECU re-chipped and programming it to run your specific motor is a better solution than just using an incorrect ECU and piggybacking it...

ok thanks whats it gonna do if i dont just run on 12 valves instead of the whole 16 until the p28 kicks it in i took the car around the block with just the cx ecu and it ran way better then the d15b7 engine i had in there i dunno let me know thanks

It will probably run with the P28, just not run optimally. The selling point of the HX is the VTEC-E, and the VTEC-E kicks in at a way lower RPM than regular single-cam VTEC, which is part of the reason why it gets great mileage.

With the P28 in there, your VTEC will either engage too high or won't engage at all. Honestly I might just keep the CX ECU on it for now until you figure out what your final tuning solution is going to be...

ok thanks alot you have been the most helpful to me if you find aything else out let me know and i will post the same...im going to be doing body work on the trunk of my 91 integra for the next few days so im not going to be even think about the civic for a while
