i've been using this for over a year. it's a pretty good service. you don't actually get to talk to a human though. you do get to select from all the business in your area and it will connect you free of charge.

i tried to get them to text directions, but it didn't work. i've probably used it a 40 times or so. saved me a bunch of money. kinda look like a pimp calling it because everybody freaks out like, "omg, he's using 411, doesn't he care about the charges".

then you just say the company and they patch you through.

i use this all the time
its #2 on my speed dial
lol

they can text you the number
always work fairly well if you can pronunciate your towns/cities well

if someone is on the phone with goog 411 just yell GO BACK in the background
it says going back... and they have to start over
its hysterical
we called it and kept saying stupid shit in it for a good 20 minutes one night

i have it on speed dial too.

i think it's too damn sensitive. when i call people will talk to me. "god dammit, now i have to start over".

"i'm sorry, mbmmbmmbmeemmme is not recognized". fuck you goog

lol, i love doing that to people
turn your speaker volume down on your phone or something

i like how they have different voices saying GOOG 411

the kids voice cracked me up the first time i heard it

1-800-FREE-411 used to be good, until they started adding those advertisements that keep you on the phone for 2 minutes atleast before you get the number you've requested.

Yea thats all i ever heard, never knew it didnt have teh ads.

It didn't have those annoying advertisements when they first came out. But shortly after, they added them.

I wonder if Google makes any money off of their 411 service. I doubt that big of a company would run something that wouldn't net them any money.

i dunno
it says "calls connected through bandwidth.com"
maybe thats their ad revenue?

google is big enough to take a small hit just to beat out a rival, like free-411 for instance

You can also text GOOGL (46645) and it will give a response to questions and stuff. That's free as well. Lots of times it will give numbers so you don't have to call and wait...

i bet business listings pay to have priority.

for example, saying "attorney" would net 10,000 results, but you can pay to be up top like a search engine.
