Ok, im not an idiot but ive heard head studs can increase power.... can someone explain how?

no, because you heard wrong. do you have any idea what the function of a head stud is? google, man...

maybe you think you dont have head studs already?

all an all, yeah dumb question.

i dont mean to sound mean, but i mean jeeeze. if only u knew

Holy cow my friend. Wow! I'm almost speechless. I'll just cut to the chase, head studs will help you out especially when you are making more power and if you are going the ARP route, they will handle up to 190,000psi making them very strong for use in your build. Wow...I'm shocked I got that much out. Research is your friend. Please do it before building or attempting to build anything. Wow...take the time to read around the site and you will learn a lot. Never go by what just one person tells you, unless that person has previous experience, and actually knows what they are talking about. Wow...research, research and more research.

i know what a head stud does, i had asked around on how to increase HP swaping stock honda parts such as ECU, and such... but someone had said something about getting new headstuds for an increase in HP... and i was confused... i know that on a SBC or any other V8 that there is no HP increase... thats why i was asking, wasnt sure if there was a honda thing or what

you forgot to say wow

You get 10HP for each stud you replace. Seriously that is a dumb question. The only thing head studs are used for is to hold the head down tight when you build a motor. Getting stronger ones prevents your studs from streching and blowing your newly built motor to crap. They do not add HP.

Yeah dude, just grab yourself some APC Super Street series tuner head studs. They'll add 10 horsepower at the wheels at least...

Nah, seriously though, they just hold the head to the block. There's no power increase to be had by replacing them. Oh, and FYI, swapping stock ECUs for other stock ECUs doesn't necessarily increase power, and it's not always a smart idea either...

i know what the h--- head studs do..

i grew up around S/BBC and S/BBF... i learned to increase power w/ cams, carbs, heads, valvetrain, etc. then i switched to tuners and 4-cyl's and people increasing power using new head gaskets, cam gears, and such.

so i figured, just cuz i hadn't heard of headstuds to increase power, didnt mean they didn't.

i was just asking, damn guys

Thanks you for making my newbiness look less....newb-like

Hey Brutal you hear about APC developing new Turbo Studs? They are supposed to increase compression and give you up to 50hp increase each.

so if you just switched to "tuners" you did all these mods to your [domestic] cars and never tuned them?

realize a tuner is anyone who 'tunes' a motor, or makes it run at it's optimum level.

yeah it's cool what you grew up with but this was common sense. take it easy and run a few google searches first next time.

hey now....he doesn't have head studs now. unless he has aftermarket. jeeze is right giving the kid shit and you are wrong in your post. He has head bolts. :D Had to give him a little credit. but yeah anyways dude when you start a post by saying "I'm not an idiot but..." that is pretty much where you admit you are an idiot then when its followed by "do headstuds add horsepower?" is when you confirm my belief that you are indeed an idiot.

Classic. Rep for you.

I wish I could get doused in rep like that. Maybe I'm just not witty enough...:(

JK, By the way, Blanco, what style of drumming do you play/prefer. Tech death metal , rock, punk, afro-jazz...(afro jazz, wtf is that?). Sorry for jacking but this issue has been resolved anyway...
