ambitious...but rubbish
I am getting a spectacular deal on a D16Y7 engine/tranny package for $350, it comes with an ACT stage 2 clutch and light flywheel and a header.

my wife has a 95 EX that keeps popping out of second gear.
the Y7 is going into my 95 CX hatch that I just put a new clutch in. 0 miles

I need to know if all D series trannies have the same input shaft, if I want the light flywheel and clutch to match do I need to keep the Y7 tranny as well?

I thought the Y7 would work the best on her EX, and if I could use the new clutch from the CX on hers would be ideal, I think I would also have to change the flywheel too, or just give her the CX trans???

d-series is d-series everything is the same except for the internals

I can't agree with that whole heartedly because I bought an automatic tranny for my EK from a guy that said it was from an EG. Well, I came to find out it was from an EF and guess what, it didn't fit. haha That's $150 down the drain for me. Anywho, the guy told me it would fit in an EK, my mechanic tested it on another EG he was doing a tranny job on and it didn't fit on it either. Gotta love cable set ups.

On a side note, that's really sweet man. What are your plans for the engine now? Are you going to leave it the way it is or play around with it?

I almost have everything from the Y7 in my EG, the tranny, clutch and flywheel I took out of the EG will be going into my wifes EX, I hope the gear ratios arent too tall for it because it already seems kind of sluggish to me now I'm not sure if her VTEC works either.

also I broke my TPS when I took out the old CX engine, I put the one from the Y7 on there but it doesn't look the same, and none of the 3 throttle bodies we had laying around had removable TPS's

for the engine you are correct, I was wondering about the trannies though, I learned the hard way that B-series tranny has to be lined up with the clutch and flywheel from the tranny, not the engine.

I've never seen a throttle body with a removable TPS. A lot of people actually take them off and sell them for $50 a freakin' PIECE! I'd rather replace the entire throttle body for less.

I was confused because the TPS on my B16 was held on with torx screws, thought it was no big deal when I broke the other one...

88-91 d-series transaxles have a different spline count on the input shaft than the 92+ D's. I had a similar issue a few years back with a used transaxle and a new clutch setup. The engine was a z6 in a crx with a 89 dx transaxle and a clutch setup for the z6. One big headache. After that, I never had a D-series again.

I figure I played it safe, I put the whole 96 Y7 engine tranny ( except the intake manifold )into the 95 hatch.
the tranny clutch and flywheel from the 95 hatch will be going into my wifes 95 EX coupe everything should line up straight, I just wonder if her car is going to be more sluggish than it is now.

The Y7 is going into the hatch and your wife's car has a D16Z6, correct?
If this is so, your wife's car, at least to me, should not be sluggish at all. Then again, for my personal sanity, I need to know which engine is where. haha

the Y7 is already in the hatch, just need to finish hooking it up. (and probably need a new throttle body)

wife has a 95 EX w/ D16Z6 engine, I am comparing it to a 94 del-sol Si I used to own and compared to that it feels very sluggish so I am hoping the gear ratios on the CX trans work out OK and the clutch from the 1.5 cx will hold the extra power, the clutch is new, less than 5 miles on it.

when I get her transmission working with a 2nd gear that works, I will have to test to see if her VTEC works, I cant hear or feel it.
