I've heard that a b17 is faster than a b18c1 gsr. can anyone tell me their input. i know that the b18c1 has more hp and torque but the b17 has a shorter geared tranny. i'm trying to figure out which is faster?

if the motor is in the same car the b18c1 gsr motor should be faster. but if your talking about 1993 gsr vs 1994 gsr the 93 will win, because the da was the fastest integra to come to the states

It depends on what motor/tranny combo you're talking about. If you're using the same transmission on both motors then the B18C1...

The B18C1 would probably take it. The gear ratios are actually listed in one of the FAQ articles on this site, let me see if I can find them...

how would i know if the b16 tranny had that final drive?

Look for the code on the transmission. Avoid the Y1. Actually, you'd probably want to avoid anything pre-92 anyway, since they switched to hydraulic actuation in 92, at least for Civics. For Integras they switched to hydro in 94.

What kind of car is this going into?

Remember a b16 trans is going to put you at rather high RPMs at highway speeds. Some people complain about it.......

yeah. i'm not really worried about the high rpms...considering i really don't drive on the highway. i'm just trying to figure out what i need to do for this swap. wireing, and etc...
