i have a 94 civic ex. stock everything. except for catback and aem intake. and im plannin on doin a swap by spring/summer time. but was wondering which motor is best?? cuz i just want lots of speed and power, and cant decide. i kno the b18c is obviously the good choice. but was wondering about the B16 and B20. which gives the most speed and power. max budget is 3200

also im gettin it with hmotorsonline.com

if you live in cali dont do the b20 thats illegal all in all theyre both nice engines personally id go with the b16

For 3200 you can swap in a b20-vtec which will romp all over b18c's.

$3200 for a well-assembled B20/VTEC and a decent transmission is pushing it, but maybe possible. I guess it depends on mechanical inclination...

b20 all day everyday. I will take that 2.0 non-vtec motor over a 1.6 liter vtec motor. But only because I would swap the head in a heartbeat and have the b20vtec that quick. Plus I just checked prices on hmotorsonline.com and the b20 is $599.00 for the 96-98 spec and $749.00 for 99-00 spec. (not counting shipping and handling) But then again if it was me I would be swapping my own motor. I refuse to let anyone touch my car anymore. So if you can do a swap yourself go with the b20. probably the 96-98 spec just cause the head is really what matters anyways.

Yes, but they can still take low to moderate boost with good tuning. Another weakness is the rods holding up to the 8000 rpm's that a b16 can take. Alot of people atleast upgrade the rod bolts to arp's for added insurance.
