Basicly the pros & cons of this. Anybody use this or have been told to not waste your time & money. Thanx in advance.

Their website has either changed or they are no longer around but im just trying to find out more info on this product.

I'm curious to know if this would be legitimate and a good idea. I've looked at the Quaife differential and while the price is up there, they have a GREAT reputation.

My friend put something like that in his Jeep. Its not a true LSD, its still an open diff. but it is some type of ratcheing mechanism that reverses the way the diff works instead of spinning the wheel with the least amount of traction it spins the one with the most. But Im not sure if what your asking about is the same thing, it sounds a lot like it tho.

Have you guys done a search, I know that this has been covered before. It might have been a few years ago. I could be wrong on this, but from what I remember it was decent but not as good as a true lsd.

efhonda your buddy most likely has a locker in his jeep.

if you want posi weld your axles together

lsd only helps when entering or exiting a corning with the wheel spin

They're alright. A good substitute for an LSD, if you can't afford one.

BUT There was some concern that the Differential housing was getting stressed too much with this in it. So it should not be considered a replacement for a true LSD. Honestly, I'd say just save up for an LSD.

It works by pressing against the spider gears in the diff so that they both move together. It makes for a shady setup because the spider gears were by no means designed for that. I have heard horror stories of the units coming apart and destroying transmissions.

Look into the OBX limmited slip. Its a copy of the quaife unit. I know that sounds shitty as well, but there are a few writups on the web of people using them with success.

I think that there are more obx horror stories than there are happy endings. If you are going to take the time to remove the tranny and open it up then you should install quality parts so you only have to do it once.

Well I think I got my answer. "Save up for a true LSD". Thanx for all the help guys.

A phantom grip works great as long as you don't have more than 100hp at the crank. Otherwise it's not worth the money.

correct on how it works. It's 2 plates with springs between them. It goes in an open diff. The spring push the plates outwards causing the axels to turn mostly evenly.

From what I've read on OBX, is that they are great so long as you make sure that all the bolts are torqued to spec before using.

:werd:

That's what I've heard as well. If you disassemble it and then re-torque everything to Quaiffe's specs you should be fine...
