thats the name of the z6 engine right? its alot harder to find than a y8 ive herd whats chances my local junkyard has one. id prefer it over the y8 if i can help it. dont bash too hard legit q lol .

96 civic dx i just have some doughts about my stock d16y7 engine it lacks power in the higher rpms and hits high rpms higher than it should i think. for example i need to be in 5th to go past 60 and stay within a reasonable rpm granted it dosent have a tac god it sounds awfully high. so before i do any major work i want to get a solid good cond D to replace mine i have a y8 head and intake mani already along with gaskets and belt tho.

A complete Y8 would be an easier swap as far as wiring purposes go. All Z6s are set up for OBD1...

dont i need the p28 anyway to run vtec? rember i have y7 in car now and y8 shit on bench lol but like i said i just want a solid running engine before i start buying parts turboing ect ect

I like the d16z6, personally. I'm all about B-series, but if I had to build a D, that would be the platform. Even if its going into an obd2 car, you can still convert it to obd1 and it wont cost an arm and a leg.

No, you need the ECU that goes with the motor. The P28 is specific to to the D16Z6, and it can be chipped and reprogrammed to run other engines. Your car is OBD2, and if you're going to keep it that way and use the Y8 head, then you're going to want an OBD2 ECU, of which the P28 is NOT. Did you not know this?

I guess I figured that you knew more than you do about ECUs since you were criticizing me for harping on that newb in the other thread...

no no no just know that the p28 with a harness and chipping works fine and is tryed and true plus is cheap =)

You get the ECU that comes with the Y8. Oddly enough, Honda was smart enough to make it capable of running the engine correctly. Wacky, eh?

Listen to the man, plus the y8 head is way better than the z6. Quench zones anyone???

Oh and since when was a d16z6 "hard to find" ????:shrug2:

around me i cant find anyone and i was gonna go obd1 you guys confuse meeh. lol tell me everything ive researched is a crock of shit lol.

Your research wasn't bad it just went in the wrong direction. It's always better to match (X)gen motor with (X)gen car.

if i were you i would just pull a d16z6 from a del sol (if you can find one) cuz most del sol were just bought be old people that wanted a weekend car with good gas mileage or drivin by women so they werent beaten on and get obd1 (unless your not electrically inclined)

Well if you want to convert to OBD1 then yes, a P28 would be a great choice. If you want to keep it OBD2 (and you might, depending on where you live) then you'll want a P2P...

i want obd1 theres no inspections in Florida they don't check anything not to mention emissions . and yeah i have plans hopefully down the road for my 250whp and the tunning chipping ect i was going to have professionally done as i dont know jack shit about it. xencron tunning any decent saw there banner on the site and hcekced it out a little. but yeah as of now goal is just to get new engine or head anyway on with all needed parts and running perfect with the new ecu and vtec. =) thanks for input guys.
