well ive seen a few turbo profile cams out there such as skunk2 and crower has their turbo specific cam but i just didnt know if anyone has any that they truely have used and would recommend??? i was thinking about the skunk2 turbo cams but i could manage to find the lift/duration specs on them.... and if anyone has used any other cams that have worked really well with their engines? my setup that im going to be running will be a b18c1 with a b16a head and the head has been PnP'd and i will be putting in aftermarket valves, springs, etc.... anyone have any suggestions?? i know i could just go to the site but every brand is gonna say they are the best so i wanted to hear it from someone whos actually used them. thanks in advance.

thanks

hey thanks blanco, and by the way i posted that other thread with the flow chart and asked what cams to go with. remember that one lol.... well i read up a lil bit and i called back the shop thats doing my PnP and asked them if they had more of a street PnP and they said yes and thats its slightly different then the one i posted but not too much. they claimed its mainly just ported a lil different to be able to idle proper and less of the flow at such high lift.

yea i believe it was comp cams that had a pretty good cam that had about .466 lift on the vtec lobe and was short durations. they didnt label it as a "turbo" cam but it seems to match up with what i would want.

quick question about the link, they state that the stage one cams are the only CARB approved cams. Do they really check cams for CARB? Would the even know to look?

in my opinion i doubt that they emissions referees are ever gonna rip your engine apart to check your cams to see if they are carb exempt. i could be wrong but i live in massachusetts and never had a big problem yet and i know mass is pretty bad other than a few other states.....

Cool. I read this and I was going to mention that it doesnt really matter what the cam's name is, as long as there is a high lift and short duration that meet your specs.

EDIT:

I also used to live in MA. If your car passes smog, they dont care. If it passes the OBDII test (96+ cars), then you are also ok. If you have anything other than the stock exhaust, you will fail on the spot.

The Ref. didn't say anything about my cam. But, that doesn't mean that another Ref. won't. A built engine does sound different than a stock engine.

Sound indicates nothing. How do they know you have a cam? Maybe cali refs would know, but in MA all that matters are two things:

1.) Test results
2.) Tailpipe sound (non-applicable to domestic cars)

Actually, an aftermarket cam is louder than a stock cam. For instance, the 59300 is notorious for how noisy it is, even with damn near perfect valve lash and Comp's valve springs. It's because of the ramp angle of the lobes. Beyond that, forged pistons make a different sound than cast pistons which changes the way the engine sounds.

What does MA have to do with the California Air Resource Board (CARB)? The subject is California Refs. You can only be one of those if you've been a smog tech for many years because it's a State position. As such, those guys have heard many, many engines and have seen many tricks along the way. Some are just more lenient than others. :)

the only reason why i stated mass was because this state is just as bad as cali or if not really close... but yea i agree you cant fool those guys they have been doing that stuff for too long.
