you should be able to yank the cable from the back of the hood release inside the car. or, if your car is like my rex, you can grab the cable in front of the rad grill with a finger and yank it. as for why your hood wouldn't close before, likely has to do with the hood catch needing to be adjusted.

if you're saying you guys pulled the release cable and it isn't attached to the hood catch assembly any longer, i'm not sure you can be helped; you'll likely have to pull the bumper and try to manually release the catch.

Yeah sounds like you're going to have to pull either the bumper or grill, or both, and manually move the latch to pop the hood open. I've had to fix a couple cars like that where the hood latch cable wasn't working, and I pulled out the grill to access the latch assy. and popped it open manually.

I Thought The Latch On My 94 DX Was The Problem, But It Turned Out If I Just Manually Pushed The Cable Over From Under The Hood, It Would Close Fine. There Are Two Springs In The Latch, And So Far, Both Times It Been The Lower One That Needed Replaced. You Should See On The Lower Left Side Of The Latch Where The Cable Comes In, Just Try Pushing It To The Right, And It Should Close Fine.
As For Opening It, If Pulling The Cable From The Rear Of The Interior Latch Didn't Do The Trick, I'm Afraid They Are Right, You Might Have To Pull The Bumper, Which Is Attached With four Bolts Under The.... You Can Guess It... Hood. The 94 Civic's Don't Have A "Grill", So You May Have To Remove The Crappy Plastic Wheel Well On The Right Side, Or Try Reaching Up Through Behind The Bumper.

Check the dates on shit before you post dude. This thread is three months old...I'm sure he's probably figured it out by this point...

True, I will give him that. At least he didn't bring it back for some incoherent, barely legible, ghetto-speak-laden waste of a response...

or for...

those of us who have the same problem two years later and googled a solution, I found the response very helpful
