Hey guys I was just needing some info about boosting a D16z6 in my Del Sol si. I recently got a Garrett T25 turbo kit and wanted to know what I needed to do to the engine to get it ready for the boost. I know what it requires on an H22 to put boost in it and did not know if I needed to do that much work to the bottom end. Any help will be appreciated.

You could try searching the Forced Induction portion of the site for more info. Just a thought. :D

Now then, from what understand, the bottom end will hold up to 8psi. This is just what I remember reading, so I DEFINITELY suggest more research.

As for your injectors, they may need to be upgraded. Who did you get your kit from? Perhaps they would be able to guide you even more. Then again, like I said before, researching will also help you learn a lot. Good luck with your build. The smarter guys on the site will start to chime in shortly. I'm just the umm, decoy for now. haha :D

Yeah I figured that I would need some larger injectors and that 8 psi would be safe. This is my DD and just want to get maybe 160 to 170 hp for now until I can really get a good block build.

Really. That is awesome. I just did not know how much psi the engine could handle. I would really like to get 200hp to the wheels but would be satisfied with 170 if that was all the psi the engine could handle. It sounds to me like the D block is actually kind of strong. Is it stronger than the H22 block in comparison? Would I need to think about rods, pistons, and sleeving the engine if I wanted about 8 psi?

Cool, well than other than bigger injectors is there anything else that I would need besides good tuning to get the most out of the turbo.

Hey Blanco i appreciate the help. I was going to see if you thought I would need a computer chip for this turbo. I don't think I will because I am only going to be hitting like 6-7 psi and I don't believe that will trip the MAP sensor if I am correct. Everything I read changes how much the map can take. But from what I have seen it looks like I will be okay up to 10 psi.

Alright thanks man. I am planning on getting the rest of the small stuff tomorrow and than I am going to hopefully start some working on it. I do have one other question though, will the injectors off of a H23 put out enough fuel. I am not sure what they are rated at. I read that the H22 would be good though so I figured that the H23 should have the same size.

IIRC, aren't all the stock ones rated at 240cc? I could be wrong, but regardless just get a set of DSM injectors. They're cheap and will be adequate.

I have decided to send my ECU off to Xenocron to have them chip it. Also I am getting some DSM 450cc injectors and probably the 255 lph fuel pump just for the future. Is there anything else that I will need besides the tuning. Just let me know but I am pretty sure that this should cover it.

if your using dsm 450 you will need a resistor box to send the correct ohmage to them, turbo, downpipe, intercooler and piping, blow off valve, manifold, oil return and feed lines, high flow cat, catback exhaust, at least a stage 2 clutch, ecu chipped, boost gauge and oil pressure, boost controller, with the t-25 you will spool around 2k rpms and hit max boost around 5k this is also a very small turbo and to reach 200 hp your looking at around 12 - 14 psi,

That is alright I don't have to hit 200hp right now, I figure I will start small. Later when I have more money for internals I will do that and than put more boost into it. I figured I would not need a boost controller at the moment though since I am not planning on putting any more boost on the engine. Also I am putting on a custom exhaust kit when I get the turbo on and already have the down pipe, intercooler, piping, manifold, BOV, turbo and return and feed lines.

Well I know from what you tell me Blanco that I do not need to do anything internally. I just would like to have a well built engine by than because I will eventually want more and more horsepower. My ultimate goal for the engine is 450whp. But that is a long ways away. For now I just need to get out of school and would like to have something more than the body to show at the shows I go too.

I will be pleased with 200whp but in the far future I can see my self waning more. Like I said though 200 will be perfect to me for now. Especially since right now I am using it as my DD. Later though I will want more. And I do know what it will take to make that much power and that is why I am not at all interested in that much power within the next 10 years at least. I want to have a different car by the time that comes.

I think that you are getting the wrong idea of me man. First off I have taken a ride in and drove an integra that does 600whp and only ways 2100 lbs., so I do know what it is like to ride in a light weight to high horse power car is like. It is one hell of a rush. Secondly the topic from me has always been the same what do I need to do to get my car ready to have the t25 turbo put on my car. So far we have determined bigger injectors, ecu chipped, bigger fuel pump, and to get a good tuning done. I am ready to do that but like I said in the other thread by this name I want to know if I will need anything else for now to get my car up to 200whp. Let me know. And for every one else this conversation is also in the forced induction part of the forum so lets just use that one for now on to talk about this that way we do not have two of these threads going at the same time. This one was actually started by accident. Thanks everyone.

I have never driven that car at 650whp the boost was turned down and I don't know how much horsepower it was getting. Look though Blanco it is kind of insulting to me to just expect that I am a completely unintelligent newbie. I mean I do understand the weight to power ratio and everything else that you have told me man. So like I said before I just want to get off of the 450whp for now. That is a discussion for the future and for another day. For now other than research is there anything else that you can think of that I may need. I forgot about gauges, I will need a A/F and oil pressure. Is that it? Thanks Blanco. By the way I am learning a lot from the hacking away in frustration thread about the D series. I did not think that it would be able to do near as much as a B or K.
