H22A4drCivic
I posted this in the general tech foreum and got no response maybe cause its the wrong forem. Anyways I have an h22 in a 4 door 95 civic and ever since i bought this car it made a small grindin noise when i would turn to the right. The other day I dropped the car and The grinding came in even harder even while driving straight. I took it to a local transmission shop because i thought it possibly had something to do with that and the tech had told me that the reason im getting a grind is because my driver side axle has a big slant to it and im over flexing it. Someone else told me it could be in differential in the tranny. Has anybody else had this problem? Anyone that has built one of theseplease tell me if your driver side axle is sitting the same way i posted a couple pics please help i dont know what to do next.

im not sure i changed the right side axle with an integra axle. Am i supossed to use integra axles? Im about to order a new motor mount kit its supposed to place the motor better for less axle bind? I havent changed the axle on the driver side because Im not even sure which one its supposed to be. I read somewhere its supposed to be 94-01 integra axles and then i heard they need to be custom built.

The CV is definitely what's grinding. Just from the couple pictures I can tell. Not to mention, it's not going to last very long like that, I'd give it another 1-1500 miles before it breaks. I'm not sure which axles you should be using but the joints should be as straight as possible.

The CVJ's are bearings in a race packed with grease. They are made to have movement, up to a specific degree. His joint is actually bent on the drivers side. The clicking could be caused by it hitting something as it spins, or its slipping in its yoke, or even damaged teeth on the shaft ends.

Yea I know, but at the angle it' s at, it's damaging itself and is probably rubbing against itself., also if you look at his, besides the axle being bent, the CV is far from being in it's correct position.

You can see grease esxposed. The boot is most likely torn, now air/water/dirt can enter and is damaging the joint itself. Keep in mind, axles are three main pieces; 2 joints and a shaft. Two different bearings, same function. In the second picture, the damage on the shaft looks like it is hitting the elbow.

im not sure what mounts i have since i bought the car built. im going to take pictures and throw them up.

I took some more pics the three motor mounts and both axles. Please help me figure out what could possibly be going on? Do I need to get new motor mounts to make the engine sit better or do i have the wrong axles or setup? If I do need different mounts would these be good? eBay Motors: H Series H23 h22 motor MOUNT KIT swap 92 95 eg Civic (item 250236749604 end time Apr-20-08 20:06:11 PDT)
Also if theres any other angle you guys need just let me know.

yea your axle is gona need to be all the way in, in that one pic it is not. do you know if what half shaft you have ? is it from a prelude or accord ?. if its from a accord it will be a male driver side axle on both ends

I havent taken the driver side out yet. The axle that is out like that is the one on the passenger side and it keeps poping out like that. Thats an integra axle. I tried an accord 90-93 inner shaft and it didnt even go down the street without completely poping out. The integra one atleast stays in somewhat. Do u think its from the way the engine sits? Is there a way to tell what half shaft it is without taking the driver side axle out?

it looks like its sitting ok to me, and yea just look under your car and see if you driver side axle is a male on the side that goes to the motor it will plug in if its a male if not its a female and the part thats on the back of the motor will plug into the axle

Yeah actually the last two on the first row and the first one on the second row. Also After i pushed in the axle in the passenger side it popped out this morning when i was taking my girl to work. Now i have two problems the grinding from the driver side and the axle popping out on the passenger side. Somebody told me it was because i needed new motor mounts that it was spitting it out. I dont know what would you guys do???

ok you need 90-93 integra axles for both sides, you will know when there all the way in there it will click and you want be able to pull then out with out force.

okay are they longer than the 94-01 axles? Here it says to use 94-01 axles for the 92-95 civics with h22a swaps JSA Motors - We specialize in low mileage Japanese JDM engines & transmissions imported from Japan. Honda engine swap guides for jdm honda engine swaps.. A friend told me that the reason its popping out is because i need new motor mounts and i need to put prelude on the part of the axle that goes into the tranny is this correct or not and the clanking on the driver side while driving does it have anything to do with any of this. I need to figure both the problems out.

well its hard to tell from pics about the mounts but they look fine, the 90-03 integra axles are short. and there different from the 94+ but if you are useing a 90-93 accord intermediate shaft witch it looks like you are being that it looks like a male driver side axle, you need 90-93 integra axles, you only use 94+ axles if you have a prelude intermediate shaft witch it dont look like you have.

Is this why im gettin that grinding and do i need to put the inner part of the axle from the prelude or accord axle
