Has anybody here tried swapping a stock k24a1 (CRV) into an EG or EK Chassis? Just curious if anybody has tried it, I realize they don't have much topend, but they should have enough low/midrange torque to make a quick DD and they k24a1 block is alot cheaper then a K20a.

it will swap the same as any other k series

Thanks for the reply, but I know it'll swap the same. What I wanted to know was have you ever seen or driven a stock K24a1 swap? They don't have "real" iVTEC like the Type S or R, but 2.4L of displacement seems like alot for a light EG. Do you think they are worth the cost?

first they do have real vtec lol, and no all the ones i have saw are ppl that have put type s heads on them..it gona wide up costing about the same so i would just shop around for a k20a2 if your on a budget

haha, yeh I was actually being a little sarcastic about the real iVTEC, hence quotations, I just meant that its not the same setup as the Type S.

It seems most ppl who do K24's always want to put the Type S head on, its hard to find ppl who just do a straight K24. Thanks for the info anyway.

Cheers,

I'm sure it would be fine for a daily driver, plus you'd always have the option of swapping the head later...

well from what I've been reading the K24 CRV block and the TSX block are the same except for the pistons, so if the TSX has a redline of 7100RPM then theoretically the CRV block could also be revved safely to 7100 even though its stock redline is only 6500 right?

Where did you read that? And no, I still wouldn't rev it past the stock redline. If Honda had intended for it to rev that high than they would have given it the TSX's motor, don't you think? And FYI, the TSX's engine also has the more advanced i-VTEC (ala the RSX-S, Civic Si, etc.), which is why it makes significantly more power. The valve train in that head is built to handle higher revs, so that's why the redline is higher...

saw a local eg here for sale with the tsx k24. guy wanted $9k for it.

I know the heads are different between CRV and the TSX with the CRV more like the K20A3 and the TSX like the K20A2. Obviously the CRV Valvetrain wont support higher revs.

I mispoke when I said I thought the blocks were the same, I meant that I though that the two K24's had the same bottom end, Crank, Rods etc with only the pistons being different? but maybe I missread that.

Thanks.

Those pics of the 2.4L iVTEC in and EG chassis had me reconsidering my swap plans, he did a great job. I bet the torque is just sick:eek:

Yeah I'm sure it's nice. Even the "crappy" i-VTEC motors make nice swaps for older Hondas because they've got more torque and they're easier to make power on, even with bolt-ons...

i drove an ep3 with the k24a1 swap with stock k20a3 trans and it was a torque beast. it had kpro of course but it only had a basic tune, could have got about 10 to 15 more horses out of it with a better tune. but i can only imagine what it would be like in an eg. and as far as that head swap goes the k24a2 head on the k24a1 it's possible and u will get the "true vtec" or triloble vtec but it's really not worth it b/c your gonna mess up the bottom end trying to get into the power band of the a2 head. if you want the a2 power get an a2 it would be alot less trouble in the long run. there is alot of info on ephatch.com about the head swap. hope it helped k series is what i like i am just learning about eh d and b series
