is there any cheap chips that can raise the rev limiter to like 8200rpm ?? its a stock P13 that my friend wants to chip to rev out a little more..... all i need is something that can raise the rev limit thats all.

he had a p72 on it for like 1 year and it hasent hurt it, but i know what your saying but he wants to .

Hit up E-Bay man, I'm sure you can find a chip there that will do that for you, and it will probably only cost you $10 bucks or so...

...why the hell would you want to do that? Tell your friend to go look at his dashboard and note where the red-line is. If Honda had intended for the H22 to be revving higher than that, then they would have built it that way from the factory. There's no point in raising the rev limiter on a stock engine. All you're going to be doing is hurting it every time you take it past the stock red-line.

The stupid part is that you wouldn't even be making any extra power up there anyway. Ever heard the term "power curve" in reference to an engine? At a certain RPM point power production starts to drop off. That's the point where you'd want to shift, since you're not going to be making any additional power from that point on, que pasa?

Unless your buddy is also installing after-market cams that will actually alter his power curve and allow him to make power at higher RPMs (plus don't forget the after-market valve train that will be necessary for safely revving that high) than a chip that changes the rev limiter is completely pointless and a waste of money.

Oh, and tell your friend to do his own research from now on...

stock bottom end, port match (local shop), skunk 2 valve springs/retainers, oem valves, oem H22 Type S cams, that all for now,
he ran the p72 then someone told him he was pretty much running lean.
will it run lean on a h22:confused:

and hes not tring to rev to exactly 8200, just like 7800-8000

Chips like that are garbage. All they do is raise the rev limit and dump more fuel and advance the timing. Yeah, you might notice a little bit more "oomph" but you're also going to be hurting your motor.

If your friend is willing to spend the money on Skunk2 stuff and machine work, then why is he wanting to cheap out on tuning? What he needs to do is pick up a P28, have it chipped and loaded with an H22 map, and then take it to a reputable dyno tuner and have them do a custom tune for him. He'll get way more power that way and it will be much more reliable and safe for his motor than just running some junk E-Bay chip that will probably cause detonation eventually...

Oh, and FYI, the P72 will work, yeah, but it's not really ideal. The P72 is meant to operate a 1.8 liter engine. Why would you want it running a 2.2? The fuel injection is probably going to be off from where it should be...

If it's not going to gain any power by revving higher than what's the point? Why waste any money on it at all if he's going to get another ECU eventually?

I'm sorry, but that's a pretty stupid way to think about things. Why the hell would you want to spend extra money fixing and/or replacing a motor that you blew up when you could have just done things the right way the first time?

He needs to just be patient, get a programmable ECU, and then have it tuned on a dyno like I said. You'll get way more power through a proper tune then you will with any shitty cheap-o E-Bay chip, and you won't be hurting your motor in the process...
 
brutal face it some people never listen or learn - power is made until a certain point then it is losing power and pointless - even check youtube - has been proven and pointed out by the major companies and builders - he wants to rev higher - build it up to do so and tune it
 
Buy a hondata s300. Then plug it in, and set the rev limit to 12000 rpm and stomp on it.

Then you can enjoy all of your bent valves.

I don't get how everyone starts out with a number in mind, and tries to get there. Hell, start out with no number, that way you never fall short. Just tune until you're happy, or you've spent too much money.
