i just installed a b16b into my ek hatch. i was wondering how much horsepower can i push out of that engine if i go turbo but at the same time keep it as a reliable car. possibly a daily driver. and what turbo setup should i go with? thanks

too bad you picked such a high compression motor that's built for natural aspiration...

start looking for a great tuner.

tuning is your friend. nothing wrong with boosting the b16b. less psi to make power. dont drive it with a turbo untuned tho.

You should pick a power goal rather than a PSI goal. PSI is relevant to the the size of the turbo you choose...

300 horses on a stock B16B would probably be pushing it. You'd have to have an immaculate tune. If you want to make that much power I'd consider some lower compression pistons...

pistons wont be a problem. im just looking to build something fast and reliable. what other mods would i have to do?

my buddy drove her car for over 2 years on stock b16 with 300whp@ 15 psi. when we took the turbo kit off to sell the car. motor ran perfect!!! lol pretty crazy. the guy that tuned it did an awesome job. you should look around into a good tuner....

kinda of a waste if you take the internals out.... defeats the purpose of have the ctr! lol

good luck with what you do!

Not necessarily. Replacing the pistons with low compression after-market pieces doesn't change the fact that the B16B's head is ported and polished from the factory, and that it's cams and valve train allow it to rev higher than a standard B16...

True but going with a stock B16 swap with and LSD tranny would have been a wiser choice. The money he would save on the swap itself could have went towards the turbo kit and tuning... Some would also agree that ITR/CTR Cams have too much overlap for boost...

Should have decided on N/A or boost first before deciding on what motor to get...

Right, I completely agree with you. I was just countering the other guy's argument that switching the pistons out for lower comp ones would make the engine pretty much worthless. It's got other good attributes besides just the pistons...

I hear ya

sell the B16B (if you really have one) and buy a B16A and the turbo for the money the B16B is worth. and you might get more power out of the stock B16A turbo'd than the stock B16B turbo'd. just because of cam overlap and high compression. i say, dont ruin a rare, and thus more expensive motor by swapping out internals. get your money back (in a sense) and use the extra cash for tward the turbo system...

i got a great deal on the engine and i didnt wanna pass it up. i got with 35k miles. How much can i get for the engine? because i would relly want to go turbo. and i wouldnt mind having a b18c1, if thats a better setup for turbo.
