So, I just found out my transmission is taking a dump. Go figure. Anyway, list of things wrong:
1. Small, slow leak- not a big deal
2. Someone said something about the pressure plate, it's giving out or messed up somehow.
3. The...um, syncro (?) only heard it once, so I'm sure of the name, isn't, well, synchronized. I told this guy it wouldn't go in to 1st once in a while and he gave me that little bit.

Anyway, chances are I'm gonna end up replaced the whole thing soon, it's my luck that it's gonna die right when I'm the most broke lol. Any help, advise, or spare transmissions are welcome lol.

you mgiht as well get a new tranny, and clucth setup,if the snychros arent too bad,,try putting gm synchromesh in it,,like $10 a bottle but well woth it

Its too bad your's is cable and you're across the country. I have a hydro D series trans that's I'd let you have for whatever you have in your pocket....literally.

Who put the drag in drag queen?

You can pick up EF transmissions for fairly cheap. Since you're replacing it, grab one from an Si. You can also get an OE Exedy clutch kit on eBay for around $90. That only leaves labor.

What is the code on an EF Si tranny, Scott?

Alea, try Craigslist if you're looking for a used tranny. That's my two cents.

Lol, I have a gum wrapper??? how much would it be to ship a transmission? Just out of curiosity...

probably like 60-70 bucks I'd have to weigh it though. It was ~$0.89/lb to ship the GSR trans. It weighed like 70lbs or so. The D probably weighs less. If you're willing to pay for it, plus a couple bucks so I can build a crate it's yours, but I want the gum wrapper too.

Hm... sounds good. It might be a while til I can get the money. I have A LOT of debts. But, sure, you better hold onto it for me!!! I have a feeling mine's gonna die soon... :( I dunno if I'll have the gum wrapper then, but I'll send you a wrapper with gum INSIDE!!!

you do know he said hydro right??meaning youll have to buy a conversion kit as well..i wish ida kept my tranny i woulda hooked you up:ph34r:

Actually, yeah I saw that after I posted my last thing. Oh well. That shit's gotta be cheaper than the labor fees alone for a mechanic. I know this guy that might be able to do it for me. I might have to talk him into it though lol. ;)

PS how much do conversion kits run for?

yea, I doubt it's going anywhere, I've had this thing in my garage for years., but it's the labor of doing the cable->hydro conversion that's gonna cost ya $$$

Eh, it'll be cheaper than buying the parts THEN the labor and shit. I think I'm gonna learn of have someone teach me how to do it myself anyway.

it's not THAT difficult but your car's gonna have some downtime , that may not be affordable either.

invisibledemon is right it really isnt that hard. With the haynes manual it is easy and the manual is like 20 bucks:)
