Ok i had just bought a Jdm B18C engine, i have the mounts and everything i need to do the swap. My question is do i use my stock engine harness off my 99 ex? Can someone give me some info on what i have to do???? I have the b18c engine harness as well...

please help ...thanks

The jdm harness won't work because the shock tower connectors are reversed b/c it came from a rhd car. Just use the ex harness and run the additional wires for the knock sensor, iab's etc....

What year is the b18c from? If it is an obd2-a (96-98) or obd1 then you might have to get a jumper harness so you can plug the ecu in.

im not sure what year it is....but is it hard to add the wire for the knock sensor and iab's, also i noticed that the fuel injector plugs are different so is it just a matter of swapping plugs?

Running the wires is easy. Run the wire from the appropraite pin on the harness connector to the right pin on the ecu. There are diagrams in the reference section. I have always been under the imprssion that obd1 and obd2 motors have the same injectors. They may look different, but see if it connects up.

ok so if i have a 99 civic ex and im swapping to the p72 ecu out of the integra what pin out chart do i go by in the reference section? Sorry to be a pain, but just wanna make sure everything goes right.

What year is the motor/ecu from? If its 92-95 then go from the obd1 list, if its a 96-98 then its obd2-a, and if its 99-00 then its obd2-b. Your car being a 99' is odb2-b, so if the p72 ecu isn't obd2-b, you need to get a jumper harness from rywire.com , or do it yourself, which would be a pain in the ass.

ok , one more thing that came to mind. I'll have to get a 00 si rear tranny bracket i take it or will the one on the ex be reused?

ok now on the b18c distributor there are two plugs, and when i use the ex harness there is only one plug up at the distributor, what do i do with the extra plug? The one i am talking about is longer and more rectangular and only has two wires going to and from it.

Well it sounds like the motor you bought is obd-1, and yours is obd-2b. It's not going to be plug and play. You really need to find out what year your engine/ecu is before continuing. Your options are to:

A. Buy a 99-00 si dizzy and it will plug right in
B. Hard wire each wire on the dizzy to the correct pins on the ecu
C. Get an obd-1 engine harness then buy a obd1-2 jumper harness.

This is all assuming your engine is obd-1 (94-95). From what I have heard, some harness plugs are the same on obd1 and obd2, while some are different.

ok so the engine is obd1...and i called jhpusa and they said sorry... so they said they would send me a an obd2 b18c dizzy, alternator, and injectors so my question is will this make the engine obd2 ......???????? i have been looking it up and every place i have looked they say to get the dizzy alternator and injectors....just want a second opinion. thanks guys

That should do it! I'd also check the iacv. I know that some newer ones are 3 wire while obd1 is 2 wire.

yeah ill check that right now i have a gsr here that we are putting a top mount turbo kit on.

well it looks like obd1 and obd2 both have two wires.....oh one other thing do you know anything about the JDM P72 ecu? And if so do i have to wire a crank shaft sensor in, the b18 i have dont have one but im new as this swap so just making sure. also does the jdm p72 use a 2nd o2 sensor?

The p72 does not have a secodary o2. My setup was an obd-1 jdm b18c I got from h-motors as well. I ran the jdm p72 until I boosted it. I didn't have to wire in a crankshaft sensor either.

ok thanks for all the help man....you have helped me understand alot.
