What exactly are the bennifits of getting an after market air intake????

they help flow more air to the motor. The more air you can put into the motor the more power you will make

:werd:

Also, if you get a full cold air intake, it will place the filter down in the fender well outside the engine bay. The air coming in and being funneled to the engine will be cooler than it would be with the filter in the bay. Cooler air also equates to more power, because cooler air is more dense (meaning more air packed into a smaller area)...

ok thx, i was just whondering..... b/c im still looking to buy a car, most of them have stock air intake, im almost positive that putting the part in is really easy. but i supose a cold air intake is more expensive than a simple AEM air intake...?

1 - 2hp. hardly. AEM short ram or cold air intakes are fine. i like AEM. got one on mine. it's not much of an upgrade.

AEM makes both short ram and full cold air intakes, and yes, the full cold air is more expensive. For a short ram you're probably looking at 1-2 whp, if that. For a full cold air, maybe 3-4 whp. It depends on the application though, some engines will respond better than others.

AEM used to have dyno charts for all of their products on their website, but it doesn't look like they have them up anymore...
