I'm looking for a trusted site that YOU HAVE USED.

just trying to make sure everything is clear and off my record or if something is outstanding I can take care of it. I suppose I'll pay if I have to, but I don't really want to.

that's the government FTC site. that's the place to go.

its NOT free if you want your scores.
it will show you all 2 reports for free but won't list a fico without paying for each of the 3 unions

i'm not so much worried about the number stuff, i'm worried about a parking ticket from years ago that may be sent to collections and garbage like that.

experian.com or transunion.com

those are the actual credit bureaus, they allow you to look up your report. Not sure if you get the "score" for free.

Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com This is the site that our Naval financial counselors use. It will pull up your report from each of the 3 major companies once a year. So you can pull one report from one company, then 4 months later pull one from the second one and then 4 months get one from the third then start over with the first. Or pull them all at once. I have used them.

Funny this thread got started, becuase I just found out yesterday someone had my SS number and they were trying to open credit cards under my name and address. So I was referred to Trans Credit Union to get a copy of my credit report and open a fraud alert on my credit account. Very helpful people, just thought I would throw them out there for you.

correct. if you went to the ftc site i posted above, you'll find that this is where it takes you

thanks guys. i got it from the www.annualcreditreport.com

got all the info i needed. not as bad as i thought. i don't need to pay for my credit score because i can see it on my mastercard site. woot woot!

keep in mind, unless you get your FICO from the actual credit bereau it's only an estimation. Also Equifax is the only one that gives you your score from them. TransUnion sends you to Truecredit.com. I purchased score watch frome Equifax and the triple report and score from transunion (truecredit.com), and my equifax score was off by 43 points from the actual equifax score. I believe that experian sends you to creditexpert.com. I actually filed a complaint with the BBB on transunion, sighting deceptive business practices. when you go to transunion.com and click on the link on the webpage to get your score, it takes you to truecredit.com without notification that you are changing web sites.

interestingly, NPR had a segment on the 'not so free' credit reports last night and also ended up pimping out annualcreditreport.com. timely question, nick.
