well i thru a rod and drove all the way home ...now the bottom block is done n theres a hole n tha wall ..ne ways ima b getn another block an im gonna needa rebuild it wat am i gonna need piston, rods, mchineshop.....? list evrythng ima need please help im a first time builder... i appreciate every post
 
Well if you're just doing a stock rebuild then follow the instructions in your manual. If you're looking to build for performance then you need to give us some more information (power goals, budget, etc.) before we can help you...
 
well i wanna get some pr3 piston jus to up the comprssion .... but i jus wanna noe wats my next step... im waitn on the bottom block now... i have the head hat im gonna use its a ls .. but the bottom block need to b rebuild wat do i ned for that ...
 
I'd probably go with the JDM B16 pistons (P30). They have a nice domed top that will work with most aftermarket cams and they'll give you a nice bump in compression (11.1:1), and that's with a completely stock head (stock gasket, stock mill, etc.).

As for the other stuff, just follow the rebuild instructions in your manual. Everything else (besides the fact that you're using different pistons) should still apply. You'll probably want to get some headwork done as well (port n' polish, aftermarket cams, etc.).

ok heres th deal i just need a list of everything like 1-.... whatever like what would you guysdoes if yall were in my shoes.... strt from disassembling the motor
 
How is us typing you out a "to do" list going to be any better then you just reading the engine rebuild chapter in your repair manual? I guarantee you'll get better information there then you will from some guy on an Internet forum. You can't seriously expect to rebuild a motor using a "Step 1, Step 2, Step 3,..." list that some guy posted on an Internet forum, and I seriously doubt anyone's going to take the time to post one anyway. We're willing to help you here but you have to be willing to spend some time reading and researching on your own.

If you're serious about this then you need a good manual with all the specs and clearances listed out for you and step-by-step instructions with pictures. If the Haynes book doesn't have a walk-through on engine rebuilding (I can't remember if it does or not) then you should probably pick up a Helm's manual or factory service manual.

You'll also probably want to buy a rebuild kit, which you can find on E-Bay. As for the pistons, like I said, the P30s are probably your best bet. You can get them for cheap and they work great in an LS. The stock rods will be fine, you don't need to replace them when putting B16 pistons in an LS motor.

If any of this sounds like it's over your head, then you should probably just take it to a shop and let them do the rebuild...

Now, that being said, you need to learn one thing about engine building:

We cannot say "Unbolt this and place it here" because we are not you.
Before you tear into your engine, or even attempt to re-build ANYTHING, take some of the ADVICE from the people on this forum who have EXPERIENCE.

Don't come in here calling people assholes (and misspelling it at that) just because they are telling you something you don't want to hear.

If you listen and research, you might have a shot at building something respectable. If not, you'll be another one of those people that throws parts at an engine and is dissappointed when it either doesn't run or runs for awhile and then breaks.

Research, research, research, then come back and ask more specific questions.

No one has the time to sit here and re-write exactly what a manual you own already tells you. Shit, Blanco even gave you a link to an even better manual. Read and then start your rebuild, if you run into some issues or have questions during the tear down or rebuild then come back and ask questions.

No one is being an asshole....or an asswhole, wholeass or whatever. We're just being honest and upfront.

Step 3 - Wait
Step 4 - Pick up car
Step 5 - Enjoy
 
Step 6 - Know you could have done it for a lot less.
Step 7 - Find nearest cliff, drive car off of it with you in it.

How was myself or Blanco an asshole (note the proper spelling please) to you in any way??? We're assholes because we told you to read your damn manual??? We're assholes because we didn't take hours out of our day to type out a step-by-step "how to rebuild an LS engine" guide for you???

Get real, idiot. Like Blanco said, if that's the kind of expectation you have then you best be willing to PayPal us some money for our troubles...

If you can't be bothered to read your fucking repair manual then you aren't qualified to successfully rebuild an engine. Just take it to a shop and pay a bunch of money for someone else to do it for you...
