What tranny runs good with a b16 motor? From my understanding the b16 tranny has great accel but clearly should have been a six speed. anybody got some good ideas?

Why do you say it should have been a six-speed? Are you thinking for gas mileage purposes? If that's the reason, you have to consider that motors like the B16 are built to consistently rev high. It's not going to hurt the engine, and your gas mileage really won't be that bad.
If you're still concerned though, I'd look into some custom OEM gear combinations. Ideally I'd keep the original first through third, and then go with a GS-R fourth and an LS fifth. I'd advise against putting an entire LS transmission in there. You'll get better mileage for sure but your acceleration will definitely suffer...

Sorry. i should have stated my issue with the stock trans more clearly. I'm in the process of gathering the parts to put together a 88-91 Crx (depends on what i get my hands on) with a b16a2 swap. From my understanding, the b16 stock tranny performs great as far as accleration, but when it comes to the higher gears can lack. In other words it runs through the gears very quickly leaving little at high speeds. I was wondering what solutions you guys know of.

Those are the same people who try to keep the rpms below 3k too.
OP: Get a y21 LSD, like YBLEGAL said, then see how you like that. There's no point in getting a 6 speed unless you're going to be doing lots of highway driving. By lots, I mean 1k+ a week.

Hey you bastard! lol, just playin.BUT yes I do complian about crankin 4k down the highway going 80. maybe i wouldnt complain if my exhaust wasnt so loud. i never said i thought it was going to hurt the motor. quite honestly i get better gas milage if i drive 90mph @ 4600rpm. lol. i just wish there was a 6th gear on top of that, that is all. around town, i cruize at between 3 and 4k. again, it's so loud. it sounds like i'm racing still if i take the rpms slowly to 4.5k before shifting. i've had friends that know nothing about cars ask if i was reving it to the redline each time because it sounds so high and racey.
to me, it's ok to be up higher in rpm around town, at any time you might want to speed up. but on the highway when it's like a steady cruize, sometimes you just wish you could kick down the buzz some. but no. and quite honestly, there's no power in 5th gear, so a 6th gear would just plain suck for accel, and the motor might have to struggle with it's measily torque to even hold speed (and probably use more gas...)

right on. i'm alright. most of the time i find myself listening to the musical tones of my engine and exhast than the radio. more often that not i find that i've drivin an entire journey and not had the radio on, after the fact. i wont change it because i like the way it is. setting off car alarms is fun to. it's not crazy loud like open header tho. i raced a car like that and you couldnt even hear mine (featured on my website, yblegal.net, with password..). the way the gears go, it only feels natural that there should be a 6th gear on top, after a year of driving it, 40% of the milage on the highway probably.

I'm not sure if that's such a good analogy. You could actually do something about your exhaust if you so chose. Gas prices you can't. That's the difference...
