FALLSBURG — In what could be considered one of the easiest arrests on record, a 19-year-old man stole a motorcycle and then ratted himself out to police.
Police say Brian Zeininger, of Neversink, stole a dirt bike from a resident of Foxcroft Village in Loch Sheldrake. Then Zeininger called the police station three days later.
“Hi, this is Brian Zeininger,†he said to the police dispatcher. “Is there a warrant out for my arrest?â€
“Why?†the dispatcher responded.
“People are saying there’s a warrant out for my arrest because I stole a dirt bike.â€
“Did you steal a dirt bike?â€
“Yes.â€
Zeininger brought himself to the police station, where was charged with felony grand larceny and sent to Sullivan County Jail on $1,500 bail.
Contrary to the rumors he heard, there was never a warrant for Zeininger’s arrest.
