Hey, so I was wondering how you modify/ convert an 89-91 Civic climate control to be able to fit in a 89-91 CRX. I know it can be done, I'm just not good with electronics. Anyone have any step-by-steps or advice??

manual climate controls are a pain in the ass. i had to swap mine in my '95 coupe because it got broken into.

the heater cable is the worst pain. i would suggest against it if it's anything like a civic coupe.

Well, CRX climate controls are very, very hard to come by, especially in good condition. I might as well modify a Civic one and slap it in there.

is yours broken?

Yeah. Dial's completely off, so I can't change the temp. I had to take apart the center console and turn it from the inside with pliers.

I thought they were the same? If I still have my CRX stuff I could figure it out; but I don't.

You can swap in a EG or Accord one in there though :) I still have my old Accord one but too lazy to throw it in there, although my climate control is still intact.

Same thing it will go right in. I put a 88 CRX dash in my 89 hatch and left my climate control unit on the car, so its a civic unit in a CRX dash. Its gonna be a bitch to do, but good luck.
P.S. I have a climate control unit Ill give to you if you pay shipping.

Is it the CRX one? I'd rather come up with a CRX climate control than modify this, but I'll do it if I have to.
If it is the CRX one, how much would shipping be?

so you cut and splice the plugs,it shouldnt be that hard,

I can't do SHIT with anything electrical.... at all. I just got a new stereo yesterday, and I had to have this guy I know from an autoparts store do it for me lol.

you suck,give up now!!!!

nah j/p its really not hard, get some butt connectors, heat shrink, wire strippers, and wire crimpers, and your all set,,the wires are color coded, just connect the same colored wires together,,if you want more in depth instructions lemme know

K, letting you know. I need more in depth instructions lol. I hate wiring and it's definitely not my strong point, but I'll give it a go. Got a any pics, specs, whatever??? I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, but I'm all visual, pics help lol. No dirty jokes about that guys, I'm serious.

ok lol,here we go........
1.take all the wires from the original climate control, and compare them to the ones from the new climate control..the wires should have the same colors on them,,so you then take the wire cutters and cut the plugs from your climate control so that there is about 2-3inches of wire left on the plug,,strip the ends of the wire(about 1/4 of an inch o bare wire should showset that aside...
2.take your new climate control(which should have 2-3inches of wire left on the plugs if not more)and you strip the ends off each wire(about 1/4 of an inch)so now itll be bare wire at the end,,
3.do the same to all the wires from the harness in your car..take a piece of heat shrink and slide it over the wire and out of the way of the ends,
4.now take a butt connector, put both ends of the same colored wire in it,and crimp it together, slide the heat shrink over the connector, take a lighter and heat it up..and there ya go
I wasnt trying to be a dick at all, I was just messing with you.
its cool

Oh I just remembered, lol, the other one didn't come with the wiring. I figured I'd by a great looking climate control, and worry about the wiring later. It was a lot cheaper without it also. Anyone got the wiring shit for an 89-91 Civic climate control???
