Most CRX's I have ever seen leak water where the bottom hatch shock is mounted... right over top of the rear speaker holes. Everytime it rains I end up with massive amounts of condensation on the inside of the windows. I have wasted a set of speakers and some other stuff in my 89 CRX Si. I looked at buying another CRX and it leaked really bad. Anyone know where this is coming from or how to stop it? I took silicon sealer and ran it all the way around the botom of the weather stripping but that didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a 89 crx it has a motor swap out of a 92 civic it's a d15b2 it's crb. it has 17690 miles on the body and 90k on the motor it needs a driver side window and a finder it winsheld is craked and it's auto!!!! call and it me know 336-406-9847 name is kyle asking 1400 obo

you should have drain holes under the hatch they look like little rubber grommets, take a screw driver and plunge out the holes, chances are the holes are clogged with all kinds of shit

Thanks. I will try that after I finish the other work. The timing belt snapped on it the other day and not I am tring to retime the motor and see if its salvagable. About where are the drain plugs under the hatch?

The other thing to do is check the seal around the hatch window my buddy here in Germany is having the same problem and it rains here all the damn time. His hatch and the quarter windows all need to be resealed. Good luck

Your engine is an 'interference' engine, meaning if you jump a lot of timing or snap a t-belt, you can kiss some valves goodbye. For the cost of a used sohc engine these days, just buy another one or do a b-swap.

Yea I might rebuild the head myself just for fun... and because I have never rebuilt one. Then I will probably sell it. I have been wanting to but a b series in it and I guess now is good a time as any. Still looking for someone with a decent price on the swaps in the Virginia area so I don't have to pay out the butt for shipping it here. But I might now be able to get around it.

i am having the same problem with mine and i dont now what to do i dont even know where is the drain plug the crx is my first car im 15 and dont know much about it

My first car was a 87 Crx Si with a D16a1 Dual cam fully built. my parent bought me it when i was 13 and i worked on it till about when i was 15 and finally got it to start. it was a bad coil in the dizzy after replacing everything else on the motor! i was the happiest person alive when i herd it start. but stupid me i reved the hell out of it after its 4 year rest and red lined it when it was cold and before i knew it i had a blown head gasket and tons of smoke.i drove it while over heating and everything for a long ass time and finnally the little bolt that holds the timming belt tensioner stripped out of the block and threw my timming off several time and i kept half assing it and making it still work till finnally their was no other way of fixing it but pulling the motor and getting it retreaded. i pulled it apart and found a stage 2 act clutch a few goodies. i had it jacked up so high so i could drop the motor from the bottom cuz i had no engine hoist lol and it dropped and broke the oil pan. i gave up on that car. and busted all the windows and spray painted all on it and sent it to a junk yard i highly regret doing all of this!

ANYWAYS, my crx dripped from the hatch also and fried my 1600 watt amp i had and made my car always stink i hated it! mine was from the weather seal around the whole hatch though i just never fixed it.

I had the same problem. It turned out the water was leaking in at the body seam where the side of the car joins the roof. The water dropped into the plastic that lines the area around the rear window and hatch, and ran down that plastic piece, next to the hatch until it was captured in the little bulge around the hatch lift. Once the little bulge filled up (it doesn't take much) the water leaks out where the hatch lift piston bolts to the body. What a freaking hassle to find.

So here is how I fixed it.

You know the black stripes that run from the windshield to the top of the hatch, along either side of the roof? Pull out the black pieces and you will expose the seams. I figured out where the water was leaking through the seam, put some 3M seam sealer in there and it solved the problem. Then I put the car back together.

What a freaking hassle. Now I have a new leak from someplace else. What a freaking hassle.
