Hey Everyone. I just bought a 1998 Integra GSR (B18C1) with 112,000 miles on it. It is pretty quick and fun to drive.... but that never satisfies me for long. I am looking into a turbo or supercharger. I have seen a few local people put supercharges on this motor after they swap it into a civic. What kind of boost can I run as a daily driver on stock internals? I am not looking to go crazy but I want more power thats not going to kill the motor in 10,000 miles. And of course the age old question.... supercharger or turbo? Thanks.

assuming it's never been freshened up in the 100k+ miles I wouldnt do either supercharger or turbo on it.

Do compression and leak-down tests on the engine to make sure it's healthy before you even think about boosting...

the milage is kinda high if you want to rebuild the motor and you will feel the difference but if you like you can go boost after you do that cause my friend has and 01 type r first owner he had spray on it then went to turbo nothing done to the internals completely stock it all depends how well the car is tuned and he is running it on 9 psi so not much but still gives you the extra pull

What do you mean by freshened up? The car was driven by woman who is now about 50 to 55 years old. Her husbands parents own a car shop and have done everything to it. I have the paperwork where they put new timing belt, ac belt, ps belt, alt belt, water pump, 4 new tires, and radiator flush back in November of 2007. The motor feels strong and unhurt. The woman didn't know what a gsr was or what she had. For the price I paid I almost stole the car... I started to feel bad until I drove it then all remorse went away. :p I am going to do a full tune up (plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor, etc) this weekend just to put new stuff in it. What else should I look at doing?

By "freshen up" he means replace internal parts that wear with time pistons, rings, bearings, so on and so forth.

But at that point I might as well do the rebuild with aftermarket parts instead of stock and build it to handle a lot of boost right? Or just do the usual intake, headers, exhaust and leave it at that. The car is totally virgin... anything else I could do for quick easy upgrades?

you can easily do up to 30-40psi on it. and use some nitrous too...

sheesh, does anybody do research anymore? check out the "forced induction" section and you'll get your answer.

if the motor checks out you can safely get away with around 8-12 psi which is whats recommended by the performance shop in my area

It's probably better to talk about how much power the engine can safely handle without modification rather than PSI. PSI varies depending on the turbo being used...

on stock internals they said i could have around 200 hp before i was really pushing it and what i have now my limit is closer to 300 with just forged rods and pistons
