Default f22a1 to h22a vtec swap map sensor

i have recently read in a sport compact car magazine article something about using a 90-93 civic dx map sensor at the firewall this is the first i have heard of this is it something that i have to have they just keep adding to things i need to get and that one could be expensive will the car run properly without it or will the h22a swap come with it or do i have to buy it.
