Default code 9 No. 1 Cylinder Position

i have an ls/vtec b18a block p72 head and a p28 ecu. when i let the car sit and idle it sets a code for No. 1 Cylinder Position. is that normal?

ckp trick? there is no ckp trick. it's ckf you're thinking of. seeing as how he's using a p28, which is obd1, there is no crankshaft fluctuation sensor to bypass.

The cylinder position sensor is built into the distributor. When this sensor goes bad it starts throwing that code, you need to replace the distributor. I have seen this on many hondas, and replacing the distributor has always gotten rid of the code.

No, it shouldnt really hurt anything. I have had good luck buying new distributors from distributor king on ebay. They are very reasonably priced. Here is a link to the auction for the distributor you will need.

Thats the distributor you should be using. Its ghetto to cut one of the legs off of a non vtec distributor to make it work on a vtec head. I dont recommend that.
